The joy of motoring, it doesn't come from the most power or the best chassis, it's taking whatever you're driving to the limit and holding on to the edge. I'm finding that with new cars, that's getting to be a tough task. One thing I noticed, I thought about this after the comment above about upgrading the Aventador's suspension, without putting the rest of humanity at risk, it's impossible to reach that edge with a modern sports car (let alone a modern hypercar). I really like my fast, crazy cars, I'm starting to think of some of them as kids because they have distinct personalities and quirks all their own.
Case in point, the Aventador hates driving at 70mph while cruising the interstate, it shifts up and down constantly in auto mode, because at that speed it's exactly in-between gears for the transmission. So, it's 80 if I want to drive smoothly, which is risky, of course, because it draws attention from the fuzz like flies to honey.
I've not received a ticket in >5 years, however, so I must be living right. It's the same issue with the 458 and the other DC manuals, but not so with the 12C, it's happy running at any speed, anywhere. That car still amazes me every time I drive it.
Back to "joy", the Fiat Dino is a lot of fun to drive, because it has skinnier tires, a rowdy sound, and a very nice little gearbox. It's simply a nice mix of all the things that make a small sports car great, and that can't be said about all the others.
The SLR parts are arriving today from Germany; larger intercooler, programmable ECU, belts, and alu crank pulley. Won't take long to get it installed, and the Nash Met is hidden away, waiting for my lady's b-day, so things are pretty square around here.
