The car is completely safe, more safe than the CTS, TBH. Folks simply don't understand the materials and design process. Also, it rocks for baby chauffeuring duty, the doors allow for easier child seat negotiation. wink.gif

And it set the fastest lap....I was doubting anything would be able to beat the Ariel Atom, and this car beat it by 1.3 seconds.

 

I'm still not able to understand how thats possible. The Atom V8 still has F1 levels of power/weight ratio....

Because the Huayra has the same P/W as a Veyron SS, while being a lot more nimble. Also, word is this new Stig is a better driver than Collins.

Hmmm....the Atom V8 is 863hp/tonne, while the Veyron SS is 626hp/tonne. 

I'm guessing it comes down to downforce and aerodynamics. Who knows, maybe this'll prompt the Ariel engineers to improve on those aspects, just to get back.

Likely not, they've not made any new V8 cars in a couple years. They've gone to all 4cyl + forced induction designs. The problem is getting that horsepower to the ground and that's a tall order with such a light car. Trust me, after driving a 1050whp Ford GT (816bhp /ton), I can understand the dilemma. If that car didn't have aftermarket traction control, it would just roast its tires at half throttle in 1st and 2nd gears.

I agree, its using the power that matters, not the numbers themselves.

Then I guess the Huayra's record is hard to beat.

I saw something similar with a 2cyl engine, in the flesh a few years ago at a car/bike show. Being all electric is a twist, though.

The police called, the guy I hit with a bottle wanted to press charges, but the DA won't prosecute because the owner's son's life was in danger and the perp has a violent history. Also asked if I could come in and give a sworn statement. It seems he's crazy, but not enough to go to a psch facility. Incoming suit... confused_face.gif Time to call "the Litigator". [using Ahnold voice]

What a dweeb - he commits multiple felonies and nearly kills a guy (over a pack of smokes, have to remember how petty this is), and then has the balls to press charges because someone made him stop? I think someone needs to sit him down and explain that the primary fact he needs to be focusing on is that he's alive right now, and that he's very lucky the shop-keep didn't have a 12-gauge under the counter and didn't subsequently pull it out and hold court right there when he wanted to get all assaulty. rolleyes.gif

On the "we won't have gasoline cars" thing - various members of my family have been making that claim since the 1950s - I don't think 14 years is going to see changes that the last 60 have not. redface.gif

Here's the deal, TN is a 3 strikes state and he already has 2 previous felonies. The guy he beat the poo out of wasn't wanting to press charges, at first, due to him knowing the guy and not wanting to see him go to prison for life. However, the perp's wife asked him to reconsider. LOL From what I understand, a potential plea agreement could be 15 years mandatory, no parole, in the state penn. That's the lightest penalty. All over a carton of smokes. Forgot to mention, the guy he assaulted has a broken nose, cheek, wrist, and jaw and lost 5 teeth.

Oh, I wasn't being entirely serious about the car thing, but I doubt petrol-powered cars will be used as often, more as recreation (with ungodly fuel prices).

With electric in the state it is, and hydrogen looking too cumbersome to transport, I think there will be a public transport phase before we come up with another long term solution for the future.

 

And talking about ungodly prices. The price of a Camry where I'm staying currently: $120k.

In the US at least any widespread expansion of public transport might as well be an electric or hydrogen based system. No point in building an expensive infrastructure that'll be dated in 30 years.
