Many things. Due to the torrential downpour the garage flooded, which doesn't mean much as the floors are epoxy sealed. One of my trickle chargers tripped a breaker, because it was on the floor, but otherwise I just had to get out the squeegee. It came in through the back garage door and flowed right out the front. I'm not sure how we'll fix that, maybe dig a moat.

In better news, I now own a 2005 Heffner Performance Ford GT (one of 20 they built), variable bi-turbo, up to 1050whp on 108 RON. I know he's associated with the ugly new Camaro, but I'm calling it Bumble Bee. biggrin.gif




and... that's it for a long, long time. It is indeed possible to get a garage full of cool cars for $1.5M, it just takes a lot of haggling and hard work. wink.gif

I posted that earlier, it's my car's sister. It's tuned more aggressively and stripped out.

And yeah - that's the only problem with that level of tuning; doubt a tranny for that car is cheap. redface.gif

I'm no expert on this, but I guess thats the reason most people say the Bugatti costs what it costs. To make components reliable enough for daily use at those levels of performance....

The Tremec 6-spd in the car I'm getting is rated at 1000ft/lbs, it's just when you go over 1300, 1400, it gets dicey. The Veyron is so much because VW had to recoup their development in a small number of cars. They could have done it for less, as evidenced by the SSC Ultimate Aero (guy in a shed), but it was a technology showcase showing what to expect for the next decade.

No, it weighs 2500lbs (the stripped out GT) and puts 1600hp to the ground. Insane (It has TC, you can hear it engaging as the guy is taking off).

Oh. I thought the @ was in reference to RPM - but either way that's pretty ridiculous (I figured there was no way it was torque output, I mean big-rigs barely put that to the ground). redface.gif

I did email the guys at Heffner and they said:

Me: How reliable is it to run daily, at full boost?
Them: How much money do you have for fuel? If it's serviced regularly the drivetrain should last as long as most any other forced induction V8.


I suppose that answers that. Heh. With the lack of misfire detection (knock sensors) though, holding to fuel limits is important, I won't get engine light warnings. So, the base limit is: 100oct* = 30psi, 93oct = 20psi. It'll run E85, which is technically 100oct, but they say it'll be less efficient by 15-20%. Hmm... 100oct race fuel is 8.75 /gal, E85 is 2.95 /gal, that's a tough decision. rolleyes.gif

The TC system is very neat, it runs off the driveshaft speed:

It is always recording the driveshaft speed and can detect spikes in the wheel speed.
