Talking with the previous owner it seems that his HP ratings are a little conservative, in that it redlines at 7500 RPMs but on the dyno they never took it over 6500 because it was still breaking in. So, if it's 540bhp @6500, I'm not sure what the actual peak horsepower is and he doesn't either, but is guessing it's closer to 600. The drivetrain is built to handle 750+ because he was going to mount a modest blower at some point (FFS, why?).

I'm already scheduling the paint job and ordering the decals. cool.gif

Well, there is no McLaren club nearby, maybe I can start one. wink.gif I am joining the AC and `cuda clubs, the latter is huge here, and I've been a member of the MG club for 5 years now, they have a big meet in March that I always attend. The AC club is pretty big too, it appears, with 30+ owners in the greater-Knoxville area. Not too many cars are Guardian blue w/ GT strips, though, maybe 1/4. The rest of the clubs look either lame or extremely pretentious, or in the case of the Porsche club, both. However, the Aston club takes the cake, every single one of their cars are Birch Silver and all of the owners think they're James Bond. Screw that.

Back in college there was a guy in the autocross club that had a classic Datsun 510 race coupe. That thing could fly - incredibly flat cornering and wicked acceleration. I have no idea what all the mods on it were, but they were extensive. When he wound that engine up it sounded like an angry hornet's nest crossed with a jazz trombone.

I think it was to match the upholstery piping, but yeah it is too light. They're probably pretty easy to swap out, though.

Now that you've pointed it out, I too am annoyed by it. Didn't even notice it before. I'd either match to the carpet or black. But not that near-white leather.

Ugh, brings back bad memories. I had one break my senior year, cheap health dept condom, I was on pins and needles for a month.

Oh, Mecum is getting to be a pain. They wanted to charge me $600 shipping for my signs and guitar. confused.gif I told them to just stick them all in the car and send them on. She's like "Oh, I guess we can do that." Geez, is this their first rodeo? They also whined about my payment, I paid via e-check from my AmEx account. It's like a check from a traditional bank in every way, except it's from the AmEx bank. Then they gripe about the Cobra price, acting like they want to back out of the deal. Seriously. Finally I'm like, "Are you guys a real company? Is this the typical level of professionalism that you show to all of your customers?" Yeah, I was a jerk, but I'd had enough.

"I've paid, we've setup transportation, if you ever want me to do business with you guys again, all I want to hear from you is 'don't worry, we'll take care of it', okay?"
I wait a couple seconds... silence...
"Well?"
"Umm, don't worry, we will take care of it."
"Good man." *click* rolleyes.gif

Yeah, they likely cussed me out but I couldn't care less.

Well that blows - you always imagine a place like that would be ALL about doing whatever the customer wanted. They live and die by making people with large amounts of disposable income very, very happy. Maybe it's gotten to the point where most of their customers are professional buyers, not the actual collectors, and they all do the drill however Mecum tells them to do it - no matter what the cost or how many hoops they are asked to leap through. Another cool image I had in my brain shattered by reality... tongue.gif
