Nice to see electric power coming along. They are still stuck with the same mindset that gets everyone in robotics. Speed and agility only comes when you start using the whole skeletal system for power delivery not just leg joints. The ornithopter guys figured that out a while back.

Yeah, I agree - there was a comment on one of the robot videos that I agree with - they won't get real speed and agility until they incorporate a flexible spine. Vertebrates are a huge part of the success of the higher life forms.

Or, well, at least until the squid rise up and become our masters...

Buggery, vid blocked in Canada. Either that or my ISP has gone too far:)

 

I saw some slo mo footage and analysis of a running cheetah years ago. The movement of the spine absolutely had me stunned. It's no wonder they have to rest for a day to recover from a full out pursuit.
