An audiophile and petrolhead's journal: Buckle up! - Page 465

billybob knows whats up;)

Some nice metal there but too bad its very hard to get hold and maintain them in Oz.

Vintage cars cost more than an AMG S Class Merc to maintain in Australia. Having seen bills for both, it was mind-boggling the prices to fix imported Chevs, Plymouths etc are.

I'd rather drive a Lada then some hulking ,overstuffed, roofless Detroit monstosity;)

Driving a Lada might change your opinion very quickly. I just saw one and decided that it was enough. Sitting and driving were not happening that morning.

Detroit in its heyday was a force to reckon with and even today the Viper, SVT Mustangs, Corvette ZR1 and on a slight tangent the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 with its 6.4L V8 are proud showcases of what Detroit can do when it comes together. The Jeep accelerates almost as fast as a Cayenne Turbo and sounds better while doing it at a third of the price.

I have plenty of hours in Lada's Niva's and Puma's. The national service manager was a friend of mine back in the day.

Problem with Detroit iron is there is always some damn thing not up to snuff. Suspension, reliability, any interior Ford ever foist on the public. they always fall just short of getting it right.

So you're blind to all women who you're not married to?

I am, my wife is dangerous, with sharp, pointy teeth.

You haven't been married long enough. After 29 years, my wife would rather I look at someone else and leave her the heck alone...

Magick and billybob tell the truth. My wife has to be armed well to keep someone like me under control :p

I want to stress that I said: "My wife would rather I *look* at someone else...

On another note, there is the old saying that goes something like this:

After your wedding, place a large jar next to your marriage bed. During the first year of marriage, each time you have sex with your new wife, place a penny in the jar. After the first year, each time you have sex, take a penny out of the jar. No matter how long you stay married, the jar will never be emptied...

The fix for that is to get a vasectomy and marry a (much) younger woman.
