Which Saleen? The original, or SMS?

Well, heck, if you're gonna buy a failed supercar company, then you might as well go all-in and buy the granddaddy of failed supercar companies: Vector Motors (or whatever he's calling it these days)...

This link sees to work better...

I'm just messing around, there's no way I'd want to get involved in something like that, I can barely keep up with what's going on now. redface.gif But it's fun to imagine sometimes.

For a moment I want to address a question that I receive frequently via PM, I've answered it before, but it's been more than a year or so, meaning that it's buried under tons of other posts. Why do you post about cars here and not a car forum?

That's a good question, and it comes down to 3 major factors.

One, is that I despise car forums, they're filled with adolescent trolls, angry curmudgeons, and vitriolic apostles of "X" company (Nissan, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Chevy, Ford, etc, take your pick). I don't like being on the defensive all the time, trying to explain why a person might buy a LaFerrari over a tuned GT-R ("you waist yer money old man! lolerz!"), and their moderation is poor to nonexistent, unlike MacNN which has some of the best around. There's one particular idiot who thinks he's God's gift to McLaren, Peloton-something, and I asked about a McLaren F1 I was tracking down and he became very hostile when I wouldn't reveal particulars about it, specifically where it was and who had it (I declined to answer because I didn't want anyone else making inquiries). Also, I don't know if you're aware of this, but as soon as sponsors find out you actually own some of these cars, PM spam comes in like an avalanche. Overall, it sucks.

Two, I like the people on MacNN (well, a lot of them). smily_headphones1.gif

Three, it minimizes the number of places I visit, since I also talk about audio other stuff here.

That's pretty much it.

I still think the build to order custom Messerschmitt kit business is the way to go:)

I nearly freak out just buying cars sometimes, manufacturing would send me over the edge, I'm sure.

Bricklin, deLorean, Tucker, Renault.

Building cars is almost a guaranteed method of inducing psychosis.

But you do have an adolescent troll here

Hmm... Now that I've looked at the McLaren 650S on the McLaren stand at Geneva, I'm really, really disappointed by it. I thought the pictures didn't make it justice but even on the flesh it looks lazy.

It's not bad looking, it just lacks imagination that's all and it really looks like as if they've stuck the P1's nose in front of it. The design at the front doesn't match the design at the back.

Other interesting things that I saw, well I saw Mr. von Koenigsegg and Mr. Pagani but I gingered out and only took pictures of them. I really wanted to shake hands, have a little talk and maybe get an autograph and photos. Oh and I really wanted to ask Koenigsegg if the Nürburgring Lap Time for the One:1 is true or not but I was too shy... Maybe, I hope on Saturday where I will go again.

Here's the One:1

And here's one of the cleanest and the most beautiful 964 Porsche I've ever seen. The RUF RCT Evo

Also a little extra. I saw this guy at the Pagani stand, sketching some very neat stuff.

More pictures to come on Saturday. :D

wasn't vector that trans gender person? or am I thinking of something else?  I had a 1200bhp saleen mustang custom made. it was a '93. it ran once. all of six blocks. it was worth it though  I had a calloway sledgehammer too. those were some serious hack jobs back then. oh, never mind that was Carmichael lol.

VB, I have Christian's phone #, and the one for Pagani's assistant, if you want to ask. wink.gif

(Don't bother, it's going directly to voicemail.)

Speaking of Pagani, the Zonda will be back by the 15th of this month, supposedly. Ugh, what is it Shakespeare said about "beware the Ides of March"? Et tu, Horacio? hehe

(We marked and scored the tub in several places, just to make sure that it's been replaced, and that's really all I care about.)

That opinion of the 650S has basically been the general reaction of the public and of current owners; it seems like McLaren played it way too safe on this one. There's not enough visibly new about it to enthuse the portion of supercar buyers who spend based purely on looks and name.

Does RUF still produce anything based on that generation of 911, or is it simply a legacy display?

Carmichael, yes, of Dale. That was such a strange debacle.

Ruf will work on/upgrade anything you can drag into their factory (Porsche related), @$350 /hr (which is why I declined to send mine in for a refresh).

After some consideration, I like the look of the 12C more, and really there's virtually no difference between them in performance, no matter what McLaren says. Any mods or tuning you can do with one, you can apply with the other. We've not installed it yet, but I have the new Fabspeed firmware which nets a 12 / 5% gain in hp and torque, respectively. But I've not worked up the nerve to void my warranty, yet. I'm still running it on PRM3, which is selectable through the service mode, which not-so-coincidentally is 642bhp/500ft-lbs and has a flatter torque curve (but a little worse fuel efficiency), which to me is proof that McLaren uses that ECU across the line.

Edit: I do love those new seats in the 650S, though. redface.gif

That's not exactly what I meant when I asked for pictures of demo dollies.

I meant something more like these...

Oh yes, I have one. Miss Switzerland 2013 posing next to a Lancia Ypsilon.

But more on that on Saturday. :D
