It's been 58 days now without word from him, after he was sent the invoice and told via phone that it's ready. Not to say I really wanted a Viper, but if I did it would be a G2 GTS because they're just mean and nasty, which is exactly the way you want a Viper to be.

Wait, hang on. The '01 Viper GTS is a Gen 2 Viper. The redesigned Viper from 2002 to 2006 is the Gen 3.

Personally, I'll always love the first and second gen Viper more than the third and fourth and the new SRT Viper. It was one of my dream and favourite cars when I was a little boy which is kinda unusual since most kids who are from that time period had a Ferrari F50 or a Lamborghini Diablo as their dream car.

In a few days, I'm going to Geneva to see the Geneva Motorshow. I just can't wait.

Geneva! Now that's just really, really cool! Take some pics! Especially of the demo dollies... very_evil_smiley.gif

Yep, I know it's a G2 Viper, I was saying that it at least has that going for it.

Can you deal it off to fund part of the 959?

That wouldn't be much more than a drop in a rather large bucket, I'm afraid. I'll probably go through with the 959, will talk with the guy tomorrow. Then I'll sit and figure out how to pay for it. redface.gif

What is a Viper worth on the open market these days?

Perhaps the Greek bond market can finance the 959:wink_face:

Probably something in the class of a Ford Focus, Honda Civic, etc. Yesterday we saw a 2009 Kia Rio with 90K miles. They were asking $8K, but immediately dropped to $7K before we even had the car unlocked. It would have been fine - except it was the stripped-down base model - didn't even have power windows & locks. Even at $7K it was overpriced - dealer retail is ~$6500, and I wouldn't pay more than $6K for it. I passed on it - it wasn't worth the haggle. I've seen better cars for less money.

My son's most recent line: "I want a color that can be found in a box of crayons - and not the 64 box, the 8 box."

Well he is a teenager right? Get him something flashy and fast like a Mustang

~45k, as it sits with the work we've done, but it needs interior work and I can't stand the color, I think it's some type of graphite metallic flake.

No matter how long you wait to sell the Viper, the deadbeat customer will come looking for it within a week or two after you sell it. It's just another of the ways the universe screws with you...

Do you have to post a notice in the newspaper or anything? Isn't there some sort of legal paperwork required to transfer the title under a mechanic's lien?

So, there's not a lot of money to be made from the sale then.  The colour does not look too bad in the pic. A little bland perhaps.

Vipers really should be in primary colors - red, yellow or blue.

If we keep it I want to go pearl white w/ blue stripes.

Yup - that works!

I think I could live with it that way....lol. If nothing else, it might draw less attention from the boys in blue with that color scheme. I would certainly prefer some other scheme though....blue/white or black/white, probably. No red for me.

More stuff today.

McLaren: "Trade in your 12C for a new 650S Spider, pay $60k difference." Wow.
Ferrari: "We want to send you a Ferrari California T, to see what you think of it." Really? Okay...
