Or LeBaron

And of course, who could ever forget this ad copy.

AS IF!

Funny how the NA carmakers shuffled around Merc at one time or another and it took Toyota to actually build a competitive car.

I have never seen a Granada without a peeling vinyl roof....lol.

I'm pretty sure a peeling vinyl roof is how they came out of the factory. I think I've mentioned before that my cousin had a mutant Granada/Monarch. The outside of the car was badged as a Granada, but the inside of the car was all Mercury Monarch (or maybe it was the other way 'round) A perfect example of the awesome QC of Detroit in 1979.

I do miss obob - right about now he would be jumping-in to defend 1980s Ford/Lincoln/Mercury... biggrin.gif

A Fox Mustang = a Grenada the same way a 911 = a Beetle. wink.gif

Am I a "food snob" for not wanting to eat at Red Lobster for lunch? The only thing they have that I enjoy is their cheesy biscuits.

One of the absolute best thread on this site - life, women (our wives), expensive ass cars, audio, and everything in between. What more can a man ask for? Thanks Magick Man and a few here for living out my car dreams. I salute you all.

I hesitate to ask... I was away from the forums when Obob left, and I never found out what exactly happened to him.

You got the right thread here Magick? I thought food talk was in that other crohn's thread:)

Gent up here used to run a beetle with a Porsche Super 90 in GT3 here. Put most 911's to shame, it would.

I eagerly await the 1980's Ford appreciation thread:eek:

Tascams are just getting better. A slight shim under the top of the cup between the cup and mount alters the geometry for a decent fit rather than having the top of the cup angle outward and cup bottom apply too much pressure. these things are actually making me appreciate the overly technical performance of Pletnevs interpretation of the Carmen Suite.

I would have loved to hear him attempt to defend the 2.3L automatic pea-green Ford Fairmont that my uncle used to own. It wouldn't spin the tires on a crushed-stone driveway! lol

The biscuits are good, but asides from them, the only food I get at Red Lobster is the Cajun chicken linguini Alfredo. *rubs belly*

A couple times each week they order from one place for everyone (8-10 people). Being the sneaky so-and-sos they are, they like to ask what I want from a place, get the total for the whole order, then look at me... expectantly. Well, by God, if I'm footing the bill, I want something *I* like to eat, and if they want seafood from a local place it's the Crab Shack, a local hole-in-the-wall that makes some of the best fried; fish, soft crabs, oysters, and shrimp known to western civilization, and they sell it in quart-sized buckets, one per entree, with a bucket each of cole slaw, Cajun Smash (spicy potatoes w/ gravy), and hush puppies. No, "fine dining" it ain't, but it's all the better for it.

Sh*t, I'm so full I can't move now... biggrin.gif

I think I have eaten at a Red Lobster once in my entire life - and I think all I ordered was soup.

And hey, it's not my fault the Fox Mustang and the Granada are related - go complain to Ford! tongue.gif

Shame about the misspelling. It really should have been the Faux Platform.

Suddenly, Pagani is being really nice, giving me updates and acting buddy-buddy. I wonder what they're up to? Frankly it makes me more nervous than them being snooty, jerk-faces.

Also, I'm shocked with how reliable the vintage Italian and British cars have been, particularly the 70s and 80s Ferraris. As long as you aren't in a big hurry and let them get up to temp, and keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary to service, you can give them a good beating on the road without worrying about hurting them. They actually seem to like it. And, unlike newer cars, "classic" Ferraris are immune to class warfare. You just have to answer questions like, "was that the car in Miami Vice?" rolleyes.gif

Bugatti is selling their 40 remaining topless Veyrons, in whatever configuration you want, for a *hush* *hush* 40% discount, including the GS Vitesse. Kinda tempting, honestly.

Guy hacks up Gallardo and turns it into a Mustang, and not a very attractive one, at that.
