I still have to buy the car itself, which we're discussing, and it's not cheap. All told, still a decent amount less, though.

I didn't want to be tacky and pry into that. However as you bring it up, how does that work? Is it the same as a regular insurance write off or are other parties involved?

The guy who has it now bought it from the insurance company, who wrote it off, and now he's selling it. Coincidentally, what he wants is about what it cost new... Funny how a car gets totaled and loses almost no value. Oh well, there's really no free lunch.

So - how is that not a salvage title?

How long has he had it? Are there any other bidders?

Not that I know of, he's had it for 8+ years.

It is, but only due to body damage. (I know, I know...)

You might think he'd be motivated to sell a little cheaper then.

That's the thing, if it were a 458 or even an F40, that would be the case, but this is much more rare and even in its current state it's still appreciating. If you go on JamesList or DuPont registry you'll see there are a few Enzos "for sale", but they really aren't, they were sold long ago. Those are just bait so that an agent can get your email and number. No one is turning loose of these right now because they've been climbing 15%, year-over-year, for the last 6 years. And I have talked him down, by a considerable amount. redface.gif

Whole new meaning to an appreciable wreck. Point taken. Grab any limited production write off you can.

My minion is off for Texas, let's see if she earns her keep. wink.gif

Edit: Also, I drove the F12Berlinetta this morning and I'm still processing that. What a beast.

Oh, and... "OMG Magick, what are you doing??"

About a 110mph, sideways. biggrin.gif

So is that photo of you, or is it just approximately what you did?

I wish we had a photographer who could take shots like that. I believe it's from Forza. We did destroy a set of tires, but that's what the sales guy gets when he hands us the keys and says "have fun". That was probably $2000.

I really was oversteering at 120-110 at one point. When I came back in the fella gave me the stinkeye.

We've personally never had issues getting parts from Ferrari, but we use flattery and small bribes, rather than bluster and threats. What's their incentive to help you? If you yell at them you only make them more stubborn and obnoxious, and in that respect Italians are just like Latinos, and being one of those I know from experience. biggrin.gif Our office manager is usually a sweetheart, and she can really lay on the southern charm, leaving the Italian parts guys fumbling all over themselves to help her. We had all the Aventador parts in <2 weeks, which is faster than the dealerships could get them and we even got the same discount! Naturally Ferrari is a little harder to work with, but I don't mind using small bribes, if it helps to get things done.

Just sell it as an art work or something ;)

I saw Thor: The Dark World today. I really wish they spent a little more time of the stories instead of just making the entire movie about the special effects.
