An audiophile and petrolhead's journal: Buckle up! - Page 298
Gear mentioned in this thread:
The Brothers Wright's contribution to flight was the use of control surfaces. Powered manned flight had in fact been achieved before them. Indeed it proved the need for said controls.
Diligence is, I am afraid, on the way out. How are we going to achieve greatness when everybody is answering a text message every 10 minutes? We have a severe cultural flaw blossoming here in that our needs for acceptance are fast outpacing out need to achieve.
Fish stink from the head down. Before you ever get to a corporate marketing department look at the biggest marketing machine's on earth, governments. They set the precedent for spending more time and money selling you on concepts than actually delivering them. Corporations run a close second. The worst of it being something I alluded to in my response to Warbucks. They have no clue or desire even to get the information they actually need. They create endless reporting and culling schemas to attempt to validate ingrained concepts that are half a century out of date. In some circles we whisper quietly amongst ourselves the phrase "Packaged Goods Mentality" while exiting the room.
Hopping briefly in the air and/or falling with style is not powered flight...
I personally as a banker prefer to settle disputes with a 20 kg club too
Seriously though the way I see it is that we have created a consumerist monster which will eventually eat us up.
We have everything for sale and the capacity to purchase but the concept of value has been lost or given up.
Boggles my mind that people complain about the price of petrol while driving a V8 4WD and living in a 5 bedroom home with 2.5 adults.
Reminds me of this:
PS: Devil's Advocate is one of many favorite Al Pacino movies.
