I guess with that powertrain it would be considered a "Go-mad".

What happened here?
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=DA0913-168652&entryRow=556&lottype=car&startRow=541

Did it sell so cheap because of the "prior rebuilt California title"?

Salvage title, trashed interior, and it doesn't run. Someone bought that one to strip.

Wait until we get it and put on the Paxton supercharger and TKO 600 manual. wink.gif

Hmm - that's why I have a hard time trusting Mecum. Why didn't they list the issues in the description? Where are the pictures of the interior? I think Mecum should be doing more for their fees... mad.gif

They give more detail in the Gold section, but all the info on the car is usually available if you ask for it (and a rebuilt/salvage title always means "uh-oh"). On the small lots they don't go into a lot of detail in the general description.

Muscle isn't usually my bag, but this `65 1/2 GTO was priced too attractively to be passed on, probably should have been around 100-110k even without the original tranny, and it's part of the Buddy Herin collection which gives it a nice pedigree: http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=DA0913-165423&entryRow=325 I love that blue. A great car to hold for a decade or so.

A nice goat is always going to be a desirable car - and especially if it is a ragtop *or* a tri-power - and that one is both!

Or, you could turn it into a MonkeeMobile... tongue.gif

I am just amazed at the prices the Dodge & Plymouth muscle cars are selling for. For example:
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=DA0913-165516&entryRow=1092&lottype=car&startRow=1081

$200K!! It looks like almost any hemi is going for $40K+ All the muscle cars seem way overpriced to me, but for some reason the Dodge & Plymouth cars just seem more ridiculous than the Ford & GM models. I know there are specific 'Vettes, 'Stangs, etc that are really high-priced - but still - a Dodge?? tongue.gif

Ditto on that. This seems to be a Barret-Jackoff phenomena that has spread like a cancer. It's not like these were limited production models which would demand a collectors premium. We are looking at cars any local dealership carried en masse. This just looks like artificial price driving to feed the inexhuastable auction houses to me.

Can hardly wait till they Hyundai Pony hits 40 grand as a collectable:D

$200K and it's not the original transmission.

That's largely because it's entirely unrestored, even has original paint and interior. If it had the original tranny it likely would have gone for 250k or more. eek.gif This is tame though, cars like that were going for even more 6 years ago, before the recession settled in.

A petrolhead treat. Try this with your favorite headphones, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

Anyone watching the America's Cup? Those big boats cranking along up on their hydrofoils is pretty amazing - especially when they can round a turn and still be going fast enough to stay up on the wings. The acceleration of these boats is also really spectacular

It sure looks like Larry Ellison might lose the cup in his home water.

Been a long time since I paid attention to the cup. When did they stop running keelboats and go to multihulls?

The last deal fell through, the guy wants too much money for it, so I ended up with 3 (the Lotus, the Nomad, and the Goat). I must be slipping. wink.gif

Okay just what was the attraction to the Camaro?
