A car that rare and historically important needs to be at a place where people can see and appreciate it. I love rare, exclusive cars as much as the next person, but with that vehicle I'd have to take special considerations, and really wouldn't be able to do what I want with it. So, Muscle Car City in Florida, you owe me one.

On the other side, we're GTG on the Dubai deal(s). Bouncing for joy emoticon - bouncing-for-joy-smiley-emoticon.gif They agreed to sell the XJ220 by itself, kinda, they also have some engine blocks, heads, and other mechanicals that we can use, including a V12 from a Murcielago LP640, so I'm getting those as well. My minion is going over there with backup to finalize that. Yes, Dubai... I'm actually a little jealous right now.

Fans of the Doctor, check this out. It's awesomely cool!

Any chance you could negotiate a deal to take body molds off of it?

Love to see what you and your lads can cook up for the Jag. A lot of wiggle room in that car for playing around.

Slick Dr link.

Not sure how good it is, but it's AKG so it should be pretty respectable. For $30 it's worth the risk.

Thanks - those go on sale at MF/M123/GC fairly often, and I've looked at them before and decided to pass. I think I'm going to hold out for either the K240 or, if I can find a bargain, the K701. Of course, those are more than $30!

AKG still confuses me: M80 Mk II, K44, K77, K99 - they all look about the same, they are all less than $100 and I have no idea how they differ.

For some reason, I feel kind of sorry for some of these cars.
http://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/inventory.htm?limit=500&order_by=&d=backw

I know I shouldn't - it's probably better that a car is brought out into the light of day rather than continuing to be sitting in a barn. At least then there is some chance of the car being useful to someone. But, it still makes me sad when I see great cars that have been allowed to fall into disrepair. It's sort of like watching the abused dogs on the Sarah McLachlan commercials... wink.gif

So much automotive history scrolling down that page, and some beautiful, and some battered cars.....and then at the bottom, this wretched thing to break the mood....eek.gif

Doesn't seem right in the same place as all the other cars there, does it? wink.gif

Well, we're settling in... wow, it's only 10:30, west coast time is cool. It amazes me how my daughter can sleep through anything, but I guess she was tired from talking with everyone on the flight about her puppy. There was another little girl on the plane who was about a year older than Emma, but she wasn't allowed out of her seat, and the kid's mother was pretty grouchy and annoying. I thought my wife was going to come unglued on her when she started pushing Emma back to us saying "get away, go back to your parents". Children can't play and hang out anymore? Bloody nazi. confused_face(1).gif

Got a full day tomorrow, but plan on making updates. I have 5, maybe 6 (if it's way below estimate), cars on the watch list now. That's down from 8, due to recent purchases. Likely they'll all be over what I'm willing to pay due to auction inflation, but you never know. It'll be fun just to go and see the sights and all. I mandated that no one's to contact me unless there's a disaster, hopefully none of those happen.

AKG kind of went bananas after Harmon ruined bought them. To maximize profit from the brand name we now have 200 million different models to fill every conceivable potential market element.

Hold out for the 702 annies if you can. They are starting to go on sale. Watch the thievesBay for a deal on a 240 DF. Both offer more detail than the models you are initially looking at.

Yep, we've already discussed it, modifying a Pantera is pretty simple and probably what I'd rather do anyway.

They usually deal in high-end muscle car restorations, but the Factory Five caught my eye today.

That's a great site! No, never heard of them. I see the FF 5.0 Cobras go on Mecum for ~$30k pre- BP, if you can get them to come down 3k that would be great.

I'd forgotten all about those guys, and they're only ~100 miles from me. They still build road cars too, I thought they only built race cars now. Huh.

Yes, she does! His hygiene is a little questionable and he has the personality of a cabbage, but he's a bona fide computer wiz. What I meant though, is she took one of my security guys, he's ~6' 4" and 310lbs. He doesn't talk a lot, mostly he communicates via grunts and head movements, but he absolutely leaves an impression. Not that he's stupid, he has an IQ in the 140s, talking just isn't something he enjoys very much.

Yeah, their site is fantastic. They're not a big-name dealer on a national scale, but a lot of the 'Vette guys in WI and northern IL have bought cars from them. They have a decent reputation.

If only it did not look like an old MR2 left out in the sun too long.
