I'm half-heartedly threatening to make an offer on it, and that's not going well around here. biggrin.gif Fortunately, it's probably been sold by now.

The blue mac is already in the US? How can you pass it up? You know, it's really not very big - just hide it behind the Rolls - maybe no one will notice it...

The color is amazing! http://www.flickr.com/photos/effspots/6889733824/

That's an MP4-12C, not the F1. Same color, though.

No, it's in Calais, but if you're good with paying $4M for a car, the $3000 to get it shipped here ain't nothin'. wink.gif

Oops - my bad - F1...

What about stuff like bumpers, airbags & emissions? That must be a lot more that $3000?

Don't need them, you could import the car under Show and Display law. Actually, I think McLaren already has an exemption filed, so wouldn't need to worry about that anyway.

Cool - I just learned something. Thanks - I love that! And it looks like you are right about the F1 being on the list already: http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/sdlist040109.pdf

I think it would be fun to have a Porsche Spyder 550 replica. Normally I can't stand kit/replica cars that are VW powered - but with a Spyder or Speedster replica, that just seems perfect. Maybe I'm channeling my inner rebel without a cause, but I can't think of a better car to take for a Sunday drive to Malibu to have lunch while watching the waves (except maybe a real Spyder 550!)

They are cool. Here's one for you, only $27,000 and comes with warranty.

About the same price as a Miata, and much more attractive.

Build one with a Subaru WRX turbo motor then! You'd still have that boxer engine sound and feel, but with much more power.biggrin.gif

What would be more fun to own & drive, a Spyder Replica, a used Boxster or a Miata?

The one above has a Suby 2.1.

Best looking: Spyder
Best handling: Miata
Fastest: Boxster

Quite frankly, the Spyder would be the worst handling, slowest, and least practical. But... looks do matter, and it has those.

You can get a respectable used Boxster that hasn't been ragged out for under $20k, and used late model Miatas in good shape are <$15k. If you factor in service and economy, the Miata is the best choice of the three.

There's just one problem with a Miata - and I apologize in advance...

I lol'd - does that make me a bad person?

Also did anyone else notice that every car on there is either a maintenance nightmare and/or massive roll-over/crash risk? I know I did.

What I noticed was that the Jeep Wrangler was the only vehicle to appear on both lists.
