Okay, so what you really need to do is buy her a Mustang then.

Why do you think we bought the BMW? I assumed that car would eventually be mine too. Even a worn-out Bimmer is much better than an econobox. My job situation just got in the way of the master plan - instead of the Hyundai, my plan was for her next car to be either another BMW, Audi A6, Volvo S60 or maybe a Hyundai Genesis. Oh well, maybe

Side note: Whoever told the woman that sits right outside my office she could sing did the rest of the world a HUGE disservice. IEMs + Pandora to the rescue!

Wait, so you're getting a BMW then.  Now the real question is what to get her for her mid life crisis right?  Or do I not have the pattern down right?

That *was* the plan - but then we had to spend all our cash during my unemployment. I'm employed now, but not at my old salary and we're still digging out of the hole we dug. So, the plan falls apart. I'm not getting the BMW from her unless it is replaced with something newer and/or better - *that* is the pattern - and that ain't gonna happen for a while. Now, if the stock options I'm getting in lieu of a better salary actually pay off someday (unlike the last 4 companies I worked for!) then we'll be back in good shape...

For Beemers, the 1M coupe is an awesome car. I test drove one and almost bought it, would have too if it weren't marked up an extra $5k by the profiteering jerks at the dealership. wink.gif

Wikipedia says there are only 740 1M coupes in the US. Why did they bring so few to the US and only make the car for about a year?? I saw the Top Gear episode on it - the thing is a serious Kraut-Rakete!!

I think they just made them from the extra Z4 and M3 parts laying around, seriously. They had enough for a few thousand and that was it. The good news is, the new 2013 135is is almost the same thing, minus the cosmetics. You can get the neat M stuff as addons and basically configure one yourself.

You should have purchased it. I can offically say that I have more fun it in that that thing than I have in my Porsche. The only downside is the reckless amounts of fun at low speeds has lead to a reckless amount of damage being done to to my wallet. The car has yet to see corner that it hasn't wanted to go sideways through, which is why I'm on my third set of tires in 6000 miles. Hucking the PS2's in the dump and throw on a set on 18" RS3 265s has turned the car from fun to epic. I loves opposite lock like the dickens....

You need to make her your headphone & audio buddy! Sounds like a good opportunity to get long-term loaners & hand-me-downs.

Does anyone else think the purrin-as-pirate images look sort of like Maddox?

I have gotten the sh!tty end of the stick in every car purchase we have made since we got together. Before we were married, I was driving an RX-7. My next car was a Mazda B2200 pickup because our first house was a fixer and I spent every weekend doing runs to Home Depot. My wife's next car was a Nissan Maxima (5 speed SE version - that was a fun car), and I continued to drive the pick-up until the block cracked and the clutch was gone. Then she got a another Nissan Maxima SE (automatic, but still fun) and I got her old Maxima (which was now a wore out POS). Then she got an Infinity I30 (just like the Maxima, only with very nice leather seats), and I got her old Maxima (which was now a wore out POS - seeing a trend here?). Then she got a BMW 530 (great car), and I got her old Infinity (you guessed it - it was a wore out POS). The only reason I got the Hyundai was that the I30 had 185K miles and the transmission was shot and could no longer be trusted to do 130 miles a day.
Isn't it time for me to get a car *I* want?? Every car I have been handed has already lived a hard life of wife, kids & dog - and then I drove it into the ground and said a prayer over its dead rotting corpse.
But I'm not bitter...

Get that Renault mini-van then, you know, the one with the F1 engine. See what she says about that - and if it's too expensive, I'm sure Magick could pay to rent it for you for a weekend JUST FOR THE REACTION VIDEO LOLS and no other reason.

And yeah I hear what you're saying otherwise - I vote you get something outrageous like the TERRAFIRMINATOR and see what she says...and I mean as a rental, I think Hertz still rents H2s; just rent that for a weekend, bring it home like Friday night, and see what she does - and then tell her you flipped it doing 90 on the freeway on Monday and want something less ridiculous but still acceptable for your driving. Might or might not work...tongue.gif

She racked up $127,000 bill without batting a eye.

As may coworker put it "that was my Ranger School...... and I went to Ranger School". I agreed.

I laughed, I cried, and then I laughed more.

Busy week. I got in the WES and set it up, and I'm instantly smitten with it. It looks and sounds fantastic. Since I have it and the GES here for the time being, I'm going to do a little comparo between the two.

I ended up getting an E60 M5, which was a great but substantially flawed car. I traded that in for a new Carrera S, which is more fun but also flawed, there are times when I need a bigger car to haul around 4 adults or decent amount of stuff. What I'm going to do is keep the Porsche and get a nice, low-mileage `07 Caddie CTS-V sedan. I loved the one I had and wish I hadn't traded it.

A boss always drives a Caddie.

My wife is going, "OMG, the car will be here tomorrow". She's as excited as a little kid and it's really cute.

Does it have online tracking? Have you hooked her up with a web browser and a hotkey refresh? very_evil_smiley.gif

Also, pics of the unloading would be neato. Especially if it's on some big burly car transporter with a lift and all that, you know, like NASCAR; not just some guy's RAM3500 with a fifth wheel.
