As for the Golf, (and that one above does look like fun) my uncle had a base model 2-door one years ago as a company car, that he ended up buying from them when he moved on. He was approaching the 300k mile mark on it before he sold it, but at that point all the little things were breaking. Only one outside door handle worked (passenger side, of course) only one window would go down (yup, passenger side) HVAC fan was either on full blast or not at all, etc., etc. He actually was sad to let it go but all those parts were too expensive to justify on such a beat-down car.

Yeah, it's dead-on neutral, and it isn't that hard to get the tail to kick out, despite what I've heard test drivers claim, just a little steering flick and some generous throttle with the TC off (maybe they didn't turn off the TC?), and away she goes.

The Golf R is a great little car, and seriously fun to throw around. I'm sure the Focus ST is nice, but that VW is crazy, I can't think of another "driver's car" that's that good for $35k.

Yeah billy, that's what the hideous Lambo canopy reminds me of, a cheesy Hot Wheels car.

Well, we finally did it - we pulled the trigger on a car for my daughter. 2011 Ford Fiesta SE with 40K miles. It was more than we wanted to pay, but quite frankly, I was sick & tired of spending my weekends looking at overpriced crappy little cars.

Congrats!  Car dealerships aren't exactly fun places to hang out in.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Yay! Glad to hear it, that looks like a good buy, especially for a teen. That's a perfect first car.

It is when you can avoid/evade the finance office. ph34r.gif

So we dug out the Corniche for Mother's day, that was cool. It was nice weather to ride with the top down. Everything was great, except for Emma throwing her juice sippy out of the car while we were doing 50mph. *SMASH* At least she missed the car behind us. "Look out! Mad bomber!" redface.gif

But that's where they keep the pizza and beer.

She likes throwing it more than drinking it. She can heave a sippy cup with a considerable amount of force, but usually it doesn't hit the road going 50mph, either. My wife then made it worse by saying, "now you've done it, no more sippy for you" and then Emma cried. Mom of the year she is not. rolleyes.gif

Now, now is the time to start teaching her yo-yo tricks.  Gotta start 'em young.

How coincidental that you're posting hot VW hatches. I went by the local Audi place this morning, to pick up the R8 floor mats that I'd ordered, and I saw this:

2012 Golf R; AWD, 260bhp, great manual tranny, fully adjustable electronic dampers, and drives like a GTI on crack. Awesome, awesome little hot hatch. I had to buy that sucker. biggrin.gif I might turn it into my little race car, but it would make a great, inconspicuous DD. Guys have been fiddling with these and getting 400hp w/o breaking a sweat, I think that would qualify as a sleeper.

How much is it?  Was going to suggest it to billybob for his daughter tongue.gif

I actually tried to talk my daughter into a very nice Golf GTI that we saw yesterday - and she said "I don't like hatchbacks, I prefer sedans." blink.gif

That must be a chick thing. I love hatches. Probably best not to get the GTI, really, that's a handful for a first time driver.

On domestic things, one of my cats drug in an injured bunny this morning, so we spent a half hour chasing it around the kitchen and dining room. It didn't look to be in too bad a shape (obviously), so I put it in a shoe box and dropped it off with the vet. Wow, those little guys can scream, that's freaky. blink.gif Once he gets patched up I'll turn him loose in the national park.

Looks like a young cottontail. I raised a few of those that I found around the woodpile when I was kid. Of course, I also probably caused a few orphans to be created with my .22... redface.gif

Yep, it's a cottontail. The rabbit's okay, I went by and checked and the vet says it's not fully weaned from its mother (she patched it up and gave it some shots), it needs milk for another week. I was going to take him to the animal rescue shelter but my wife said she wants to take care of it. Anyhow, we now have formula, little bottles, a guinea pig habitat, and she's sitting on the couch with it in her lap feeding it. Cute little guy. I don't see how this is going to end well, given that we have 3 cats who are consumed with one solitary thought right now, Kill Da Wabbit!!!

Also, the F1 is leaving Wa tomorrow. I'm stoked, almost crazy with anticipation. eek.gif

Just remember that rabbits are NOT always nice pets. They have nasty claws on the end of those strong back legs and they will scratch the schitt out of you. They will also bite - but scratching is their first reaction to anything they don't like.
