So, the ultimate European car?  Although I have a soft spot for the old Hispano-Suiza?

Oh, and I almost got my first ticket in 20 years yesterday but was let off with a warning. A warning, for 85 in a 55, what do you have to do for a ticket? biggrin.gif LOL!

The F40. Really, I didn't even know what I was doing, speed-wise, I was driving through a canyon and the cop was sitting in a bend and out of sight. I didn't even see him until I passed him (hadn't seen one there before). It really didn't feel like 85, but I looked down and, sure enough, it was.

Also, purists be damned, I'm getting some mats for that car, because the CF floor makes my feet slide around.

Interesting.....I would have thought that the F40 might be the car  most likely to attract a ticket (by a jealous hater cop). Did you have to lay on the charm, or was the cop just a nice guy?

He walked up and I said, "Hey, sorry, didn't realize I was going that fast." He mentioned he'd never seen one in person before, so we walked around it and I released the bonnet. We talked about the car a little, I revved it so he could hear, and he took some pics with his phone. Then he told me to drive carefully and keep an eye on my speed, and that was that.

Don't you just wish that more cops were like that? The world would be a much better place.

How tall is the gearing on the F40? I'd think that with a small displacement motor like that, you'd have to make some concession in overall top speed to allow for good launch characteristics.....would that be a fair assessment?

Lamborghini used to make tractors...

Pretty tall, but it isn't so bad, it takes off well. I'd say 0-60mph in 3.2 sec, with the LM spec engine. The clutch is more of a problem, as you have to be Charles Atlas to really press it in a "manly" fashion.

Like a spray on lining?  Or did you find someone to custom fab one for you?  BTW, I was thinking about what obobs said about it being too red.  What do you think about making the bonnet black?
