Yeah, probably so, I'm still working on it.

The joy of motoring, it doesn't come from the most power or the best chassis, it's taking whatever you're driving to the limit and holding on to the edge. I'm finding that with new cars, that's getting to be a tough task. One thing I noticed, I thought about this after the comment above about upgrading the Aventador's suspension, without putting the rest of humanity at risk, it's impossible to reach that edge with a modern sports car (let alone a modern hypercar). I really like my fast, crazy cars, I'm starting to think of some of them as kids because they have distinct personalities and quirks all their own.

Case in point, the Aventador hates driving at 70mph while cruising the interstate, it shifts up and down constantly in auto mode, because at that speed it's exactly in-between gears for the transmission. So, it's 80 if I want to drive smoothly, which is risky, of course, because it draws attention from the fuzz like flies to honey. I've not received a ticket in >5 years, however, so I must be living right. It's the same issue with the 458 and the other DC manuals, but not so with the 12C, it's happy running at any speed, anywhere. That car still amazes me every time I drive it.

Back to "joy", the Fiat Dino is a lot of fun to drive, because it has skinnier tires, a rowdy sound, and a very nice little gearbox. It's simply a nice mix of all the things that make a small sports car great, and that can't be said about all the others.

The SLR parts are arriving today from Germany; larger intercooler, programmable ECU, belts, and alu crank pulley. Won't take long to get it installed, and the Nash Met is hidden away, waiting for my lady's b-day, so things are pretty square around here.

I can't think of a better demonstration that the Ferrari & Lambo were not designed to cruise on US freeways than their inability to be rock solid at 70 mph. I suppose you would rarely be going 70 mph while cruising the streets of Monaco... tongue.gif

Holy moly... some new Aventador owner CLEARLY misses his Dodge...

Oh for fuxake...

And I'm sure you've seen that chrome one by now so I'm not even gonna post that.

Also... any reason why my LP550 stripe idea was summarily dismissed the other day?  smile.gif  Just askin'

Most motorway speeds in Europe are 80, unless they're unrestricted (fewer of those each year), and in the ME there are almost no limits at all, so I can see why, I suppose. However, given that they sell ~half of supercars in the States, you'd think they'd make more of an effort. It's very hard driving some of these beasts at the legal limits, because; One, it feels like you're crawling, and two, they're constantly pulling at the leash to go faster (like holding back a Great Dane that wants to take off on its own). Some aren't that bad, like the 12C, NSX, and Carrera S, they can putter all day at 55, like a Camry. The others are "thoroughbreds" and they like to remind you of that every time you climb in. That's not a horrible thing, it's all part of it, but it can get bothersome after a while. Most I wouldn't want to take cross country, because at the end of the day I'd feel like I've been wrestling a bull for 14 hours.

I actually kind of like that black and red one, if I'm honest. redface.gif

No reason, just looking at different things. I'll do a mock up and check it out. Wednesday is one of my days off, so I'm chillin'.

Hey Magick, how glossy do you think you can get it?

That thing looks so wet.

The orange (from the limo) on the base car would be okay, like the final gen Diablo poster car. smily_headphones1.gif

Still isn't as bad as that ultra-pink Hummer limo (and guess what, someone near me actually bought that abomination - rolleyes.gif).

That's non-metallic black, 2-3 coats of clear, and a good wax job. Pretty decent.

Okay, 4th try:

I don't think so... :( I think Aventadors just doesn't work well with simple stripes. It needs to be sharper, more angular, more agressive.

I made one just for you Magick Man

I know, it's not a black Aventador but imagine it in black with those kind of side stripes (stripe colours are a bit wrong, my bad).

EDIT: I found an image of a black Aventador and photoshopped the stripes in. It looks way better now :D shame it's on a toy car :P

I think I kind of prefer bigger stripes:

Too many hobbies ... I know that feeling.  Wife and I have been married for over 20 years and with, what I consider, normal hiccups throughout.  I tend to take hobbies to extremes and end up getting the best of the best or close to it and I'm not satisfied until I do.  She, on the other hand, prefers collections of the feminine type, purses, shoes, etc.  The thing is I feel it's a gap in understanding.  I don't know why she needs so many pairs of shoes or purses, but she doesn't know why I need so many pairs of headphones, or electronic repair equipment.  I keep myself busy and it has, at times, affected our marriage whether it be spending time together or spending too much money, OR what I think ... I'm spending money that she could be spending for herself!  lol

Eventually, we talked about it and what drove her nuts was the fact that I wasn't communicating with her.  Packages would show up at the door and she'd wonder when I ordered it and how much.  As soon as I told her, not asked, that I was buying these headphones or whatever.  She reluctantly accepts but accepts nonetheless and I think that maybe because I want something so bad I don't tell her and not telling her anything is like lying I guess.  I'm still learning.  You tell her, she says, no ... wait if you can.  If I have a dry spell for a few months and snag something later, it works out - or have it shipped to work or a friend's house .. DOH!
