OK - here's a question - what is the best value car that no one buys? What I mean is, like what Hyundai was several years ago before everyone realized they were now making pretty decent cars for the money (probably better than the old favorites at Toyota, Nissan & Honda) and the demand (and prices) for Hyundai went up. What is the next one?
I know the Geo cars were "in" like two years ago, but I think they've mostly dried up in terms of availability. I see a lot of "dead marquees" starting to gain traction - Mercury, Plymouth, Oldsmobile, etc stuff that isn't popular but is starting to come up on the used market. Also a lot of "grandpa and grandma" cars are getting into the used market cheap - Buicks and Lincolns and such, but none of those are very efficient to operate.
In terms of brand new cars though, Ford maybe? A lot of Ford cars aren't very well known or popular, despite generally being pretty awesome for the money. I know they've made a lot of changes in the last few years. Or maybe Scion?
Aye. And relatively expensive as hell to maintain if you have to live with a TDI or other turbo. They're not the "value people's car" that they were in the 1970s. They've become more of a hipster icon, like Subaru.
If you have to ask...
