Altmann Tera Player - Page 59

No pause, RW, or FF further reinforces the point that even if I could easily afford it, I would never buy this player....way too many inconveniences about it, no matter how good it sounds.

wondering if you guys can help me out.. i have libraries of 1000s of mp3s that have now become horrid to listen to after hearing some real quality music..

i have a very particular question and need due to the imminent purchase of a tera player

i wish to start a library with solely Wavs 16bit/44.1khz.. im aware of the implications of this but i wish to do it anyway. im currently using itunes for my mp3s

i want to rip cds as wavs so i need software to do that, i would also explore the idea of a new player as opposed to iTunes. i would also like to create tags for my wavs so they are identifiable. i understand dbpoweramp can do something like this but it is not available on the mac platform.

if there is a stand alone app that can do this then that would be great..

any ideas??

And also i think depends what card you are using.I have no problems at all with Sandisk SDXC 64 Gb.

the pop is not normal, well at least it shouldnt be; I know several players and amps do have it, but nothing I have does*. the pop is a DC transient, has anyone measured it into different loads?

* one amp has it single ended, but I never use it that way and its balanced by design. CMRR means I get nothing but a faint click

as for Dacs, mainly just played around with modding a couple ebay dacs for transformer output, as well as some discrete circuits and passive IV (Zfoils). so TDA1543, TDA1545 and I heard an old Marantz CD player with TDA1541A and fixed a friends AD1955 but have no build experience with 1541A.. it was all some time ago, when beginning DIY except for the Marantz, but while I found them 'musical' I got sick of them in the long-term. of course some AKM, AD1852, AD1955, and a good number of WM8741/0 multibit SD dacs, but they wont count =) 1704/2 of course but they be R-2R, so sure I havent listened to all the dacs out there

do you think you could stop with this though? I really do not intend to qualify a personal opinion on sound, I dont have to either...I simply do not like them as much as what I have now and have been playing with over the last 2-3 years.

any dac project I picked up now would simply because i'm rather addicted to building and playing with dacs, but I would need to be excited by the design and layout, or perhaps done the layout myself for curiosity/learning.

the only one app is EAC (exact audio copy). it can be integrated into iTunes. Nothing better has been created ever!

Like aqtaket mentioned, EAC is excellent. Definitely the best grabber I know. I like dbpoweramp also, it is a very fast converter because it supports multi-CPU encoding (but no Mac support)

I would be grateful if you could share your experience with the TP, and which system you have decided to use with SD card(s), to make your music collection manageable on the TP.

Enjoy the music :-)

I use foobar2000 wich is the best for me to convert anything and cds to WAV.
I am still very amazed how good the Tera Play sound.

Would you say foobar is a replacement for iTunes? For music management and playback.

What do you do about tags?

Does it support tagging?

Yes and XLD does as well. Problem is that wav is not a vg at holding tags. On a MAC, I would use one of those rippers, make sure they go into individual folders and let I tunes attach art etc in it's library.

I mean foobar is the best for me to conver music to WAV or rip cd's, but this is just for Tera Player and i don't need tags. And is very fast too.
