I am thinking about buying it because it's the only truly portable hi-end DAP. I have a HiFiMan HM-801 and it sounds really great but i can't have it always with me beacuse of it's size. I am just interested in how it will play some really heavy music like black metal.

I can imagine some DACs being anything but neutral and accentuating a certain frequency but if that's the case you're listening to an improperly built DAC. For me, a DAC's digital signal is supposed to represent the most neutral signal possible. I can always tweak this later with EQ or my headphones. A DAC is NOT a hardware EQ.
