They can, actually - their RIFF specification allows them to store a whole bunch of tags in their INFO chunk. Nevertheless it is unusual to do so, and since there is some disagreement on where to place the chunk in the file and so on, devices often are not fully compatible with all tagging possibilities out there.

^^  Thanks.  Interesting, assumed they were just RAW.

This will spark my interest to do more research into WAV files now as this seems to be my primary format from today.

In my quest to search for the ultimate ear bud to pair with the Tera Player in line with its extreme portability and ease of use, I've ordered a FAD 1602SS (Piano Forte IX) ear bud.

Looking forward to trying it out and, if time allows, do a shoot out between my other buds and report it here. 😄

^^ Look forward to your impressions and the shoot out.

The PF IX's seems to be the sweet spot considering current offerings.

My future pairing is:

10% PF X X-CC

10% FitEar DW335

25% Frogbeats C4

40% PF IX

15% No Change

For foobar2000 setting with the Tera-Player:

Select single or multiple or all:

Right-click -> Convert:

Output format: WAV

Destination:

Specify folder: <SDHC, SDXC>

Convert each track to an individual file:

Name format: %album artist%/%album%/%tracknumber% %title%

Good luck everyone.  Time to pack the luggage.  Till next year.

Received my Tera- Player V0 a few days ago.

So so pleased with this purchase - massive relief as it was a 'researched' gamble (I couldn't audition it before buying).

Two comments so far.  1.  It is smaller than I expected.  2.  I have had to recharge it twice already but not because the battery life is short (I am getting approx 14 hours playtime).

I am glad for you mate, can you try it with W4R? Even i love the form factor of tera player, i rather wait for Fiio X3 and see how that sounds.

For me Flac and a screen is really important.

Maybe the guy behind Tera Player will come out with an upgrade model?

I don't have W4R I'm afraid.  I have Earsonics SM3, Sennheiser MX980, DBA02, HifiMan RE262 and Yuin PK1 earphones and Koss PortaPro, Senn HD25 small headphones.  I will write up impressions of the Tera-Player with these over the next few weeks.  Currently am enjoying the magic of PK1 and Tera-Player.

Flac and a screen is not important. Charles Altmann is not gonna come out with an upgrade model. He could never keep it all contained in the samll enclosure and adding a screen would give another area to bring in noise.

This player ticks many boxes, size, form, UI. I however fail to see the price is justified.

problem is that i am looking for  a compact hi end DAP. Will stick with my minidisc for now.

One more box to tick - excellent sound 😄

Your interest in a compact hi-end DAP pretty well narrows the field to the Tera. Cost is rather relative, as lots of folks pay more than that for a set of cables. Some feel that paying that much for cables is justified, others do not.

IMO, the sound of the Tera-Player justifies the price.
