I note your comments in another thread - ALO Rx MkIII, in that you have tried the source/CLAS/RxIII combo. How does it compare with the Tera Player? Care to comment on the differences in sound presentation?

I'm considering a MkIII as a pre-amp for my car line-in having used a MkII in a similar way very successfully.

Thanks.

Hi flkin,  I have the Fostex HP-P1/RX Mk3 combo and not the CLAS.      For comparisons, I suggest you look up Headfonia for a detailed review of the Tera Player and how it compares to traditional DAP and CLAS/Amp set-up.     Here is the link http://www.headfonia.com/altmann-micro-machines-tera-player-review/2/      For portability, i very much prefer the Tera Player.   The great sound quality you get from such a small player cannot be compared with traditional DAPs or DAC/Amp combo.  You will know soon since you already ordered.   TERA-fic.

On, BTW I'm pretty sure there is a difference between the 2 headphone sockets and it's not just the volume. biggrin.gif

I can't say that I have really noticed a difference in sound between when my Tera-Player was new and now that I have several hundred hours on it. Yes, there is a clear difference between the 2 sockets...the center socket is a bit more laid back and sounds like a bit of crossfeed was built in. The other socket retrieves some additional detail from the music in the higher frequencies and has a higher output.

I find that I go back and forth between the 2 outputs depending on which phones or IEM's that I am using. When I first received my Tera, I couldn't really hear much difference between the two, but as I got more familiar with the sound of the player, it became progressively easier to hear the differences.

That's great news! I'll be very interested to know what you think, especially when paired with your Heir's. Your reviews are always greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am currently on my second song with my Heir 4.Ai. I quickly put like two albums of WAV on a SD and fired away, couldnt mess around waiting for a whole library to fill the SD card could i ;) Anyway i have never really heard any awesome portable players but have heard some serious desktop set ups so bare that in mind for future impressions.

Anyway as i said i am only two songs in and well :D thats all your getting for now, i have until the 22nd so loads of time for impressions, review and youtube video ;)

I advise using the right jack, not the middle one. look back a few posts to find the difference between them. I've noticed the same thing as HiFlight. Their is definitely a difference between the two jacks. Looking forward to your review. I'm getting my AS-1's soon hopefully and can't wait to try them out with the Tera.

give it a few days and you'll really be able to appreciate it. Also try using it in a car, sounds awesome.

i am already appreciating it and i changed over literally after that picture when i read what was put ;) I have had like 3 straight hours with it now and mind blown ;)

I couldnt tell the difference for a while until I tried two identical earbuds (iBudz, sorry, but thats the only thing I have multiple same model versions of, and put one earbud from each port into an ear. I could tell instantly they were different and took another minute or two to really zero in on the differences.

IF ANY ONE WANTS TO LOAN ME SOME PORTA PROS THEN THATD BE GREAT ;) hahaha

I will see if someone is up for it, are they really that good with this then?

I love the combo, the PortaPro's modified are meant for the Tera Player. I wish they were included as a stock headphone. It'd be the best stock headphone included with an audio player ever. I would offer you mine but you are across the pond, if you were CONUS I'd be much more willing to send them. Shipping costs alone would be close if not equal to the price of this headphone for me to send it to you.

Yeh no I know that's the case so don't sweat it, it's cool!

Too hard to not post this. They are far from the best headphones or anything but the colour just matched and i had to take a picture. The TP and the Accutone Picses Band.

And with some more of my gear:

Does anyone on this thread have a Tera Player that lives in the US? (I know someone must...)

I'd be willing to pay you to "rent" your player to me just so I can hear it. It would be worth the extra expense to be able to audition it before buying one.

PM me if you're interested.
