Could this be a really nice looking portable amp for $200 (excluding ZIPPO shell) with endless possibilities?

The height without the volume knob is about 55mm so pretty close to TP's 57mm

There are literally thousands of choices and many of them are available from sellers in China with reasonable prices:

Pretty darn cool stuff for complementing TP and that BTL balanced output could be another bonus.

This particular shell actually costs more than the amp does

There are others with handcrafted patterns and they seemed to take custom-made orders as well

It is, however, rather cumbersome to locate one specific file if you have lots of albums or artists loaded onto your SDcard.

If you download the Tera-Player User Manual, it explains in detail the filesystem and how to navigate it.

Any reason for not including a litte display in Tera-Player?

I can imagine it is very hard to navigate from folders to folders, from songs to songs.....etc.

It has those advance features like auto-pilot with GPS so window is not a must.biggrin.gif

Continuing the automotive theme, this is what I liken using my Tera Player to driving:

A classic Morgan three wheeler.

Cheers,

Andy.

Likely a display would impact size, convenience of use and battery life. There are plenty of DAPs to choose from if one feels the need for a display.

It will affect SQ by adding display if I'm not mistaken. Read about it somewhere.

Some people, myself included, actually consider this a feature. confused_face_2.gif

I am one of those people.

First, a screen inherently adds noise into the enclosure.

Second, the Tera Player is controlled by Assembly ARM language. That's a low level programming language (literally any closer to directly communicating to hardware would be the binary level, Assembly is considered the first realistic programming level up from binary, basically interchangeable with binary). Not only was this a choice Charles made, but it was the only way for him to get the size he wanted and the performance as well. The chip he used has no available space for any more controlling of any more items in the Tera Player. To add anything would require a complete redesign and performance compromises.

Third, a screen means more battery usage. Some people even consider the ~15 hours of playback still unacceptable.

Four, It's extremely easy to navigate. It gets harder if you have a ridiculous amount of music and you wanna get to it quickly, but otherwise it's really easy to get quickly to whatever you want and as I have stated before, I can even tell my friends exactly how many presses of any buttons will get them to the song i want or they want without having to look at it.

I get that much playback with my rockboxed Clip Zips, and they have screens. wink_face.gif
