For me it really pops... Same level as the music...

I heard the Colorfly C4 also does something similar upon changing to a different track. This is on 24/192 files though....

I don't have any pop sounds when changing tracks. Never had.

Only when I remove/insert the SD card with headphones on. Or insert headphones while card is playing.

Its weird...

On another I'm trying to format a 128gb SDXC card to FAT32 with my MacBookPro and it hasnt succeeded in playing anything. Any ideas? All I hear is little hissy sounds.

Probably just can't handle that large of a card. You could paly with cluster size or even partions but I don't think you'll get anywhere.

Have you formatted the card to Fat32 yet?

The maker states it is compatible with up to 128 GB cards so it should work. Maybe he needs to format it on the PC via a card reader in FAT32 first and then he can use it...

Aight here's what happened:

I tried formatting a Sandisk Class 10 SDXC 128gb to FAT32 and put files... nothing. Now I got a Lexar Class 10 SDXC 128gb, formatted to FAT32, and put files and now it plays.

I think the player's really picky on SD cards, heaven knows why, and also the popping between tracks has disappeared (was using a 32gb microSD through a Sandisk Adapter).

From #rockbox on FreeNode:

There are two kinds of SDXC cards: one kind is just an SDHC card with a higher capacity which is supposed to come preformatted as exFAT. This should work with Rockbox just fine as long as you reformat it as FAT32. The other kind is a "real" SDXC card which are faster but are not electrically compatible with SD/SDHC readers. This won't work.

Interesting. I always use an adapter but I also feel that the noise is very insignificant. Maybe it's different for different cards but all my cards do it the exact same amount (SanDisk only)

I noted there were some tracks that did hissy loud pops while others did insignificant pops. Now I don't hear any.

A few words from Dan Lavry would probably help explain TP owners' impression on their gears...

"Engineering is the art of optimizing and compromising. Making gear musical does take lot of experience and understanding of the ear. I never underestimate the ability of a good ear".

Nice to hear a respected engineer say that.

Any SDXC card larger than 64gb card comes formatted in exFat. This is not compatible with the Tera, as it is specified to work with SDHC (FAT32) cards. Most computers will not reformat XC cards to FAT, as it destroys the native format. Most card readers will not read XC cards thus few, if any adapters will work properly, especially with the Tera which is very specific in its requirements.

I use a small formatting utility by HP which works perfectly with any USB-type media. It will reformat exFAT to FAT32 in a few seconds. I once tried another formatting program, which shall remain nameless, to reformat exFAT card to FAT32 and it rendered the card unreadable.

You can download the HP utility here.

I am using a 64 Sandisk SDXC card (which was not one of the recommended ones) in my Tera and it works perfectly after I reformatted it to FAT32 using the HP utility.
