The way that ACS Adam described it, it sounds like it is a type connector that no one else is using for headphones and cables. I have not tried taking them apart...

There was a picture online somewhere? It looks like the same cable that is on the machine the audiologist uses when testing my hearing? I have yet to recieve my monitors from repair? Getting a bit miffed with my acs experience!

Mark, when did they say your T1's were going to be done?

Hi Guys,

Happy new year!

Thought I'd come on and answer a few of your questions. The T1 and T1 Live is (as you have been saying) the same build minus the mic. The build is very different to the T1 classic and the same applies for the T2 versions. We changed quite a lot of things aside from the obvious removable cable and mics option. The drivers haven't changed, but you'll notice a pcb board within the moulds that have an integrated crossover and all other components wired in which produces more detail and a smoother sound but keeps the warmth that was popular with the classics. We've discontinued the classics and we'll soon be announcing the launch of the ambient pack so those of you with T1 Lives should keep an eye out!

Re the cable, it is indeed a 5 pin connector and as far as I'm aware you can pick them up anywhere else. We had them specially made for us, and I think they're pretty well priced at £29.99. Feels weird quoting in £ as opposed to $ these days for me! :-) The cables plug in via a female socket on the pcb board, we needed to do it this way to ensure the cable remained secure and discreet. It takes a good eye to take the cable in and out, there is a red dot on the right cable and a blue on the left which needs to be lined up with the dot on the pcb board. if youve got one in front of you you'll see what I mean! Once you've nailed the process it is easy to take it in and out quickly. For our artists though we dont recommend they do it between shows as we'd hate to have them call us 5 mins they walk out in front of a stadium full fans freaking out that they can't get it back in!

Hope that helps tie up some questions. If you want to know anything else just ask. For some reason head-Fi doesn't email me when there is an update to this feed so apologies if I'm slow to react. You can always reach me on email adam@acscustom.com or call the NY office.

@mark_h - does the UK lab have your IEMs? Let me know if you're not getting any response and ill give my old colleagues a kick up the but! Although if you call and speak to Rhian she'll get you an answer in no time.

Cheers
Adam

The above should read 'Re the cable, it is indeed a 5 pin connector and as far as I'm aware you CAN'T pick them up anywhere else
