Amazing deal on RS-1s and OBH-11 - Page 2

Nathan Zona is the guy I dealt with. He is young. His father sounded upset and yelled for "Nate!" when I called. I think his father may have been fed up with too many upset eBay calls.

thanks...

but we're sure that it's the same guy on ebay and audiogon right? i mean, same guy responds to the audiogon and ebay emails?

orpheus.

The email attached to his audiogon account is the same one attached to his email account--he emailed me back appologizing for not using the audiogon account.

Also, he has the same first and last name as hotty's guy.

I think it is safe to assume they are the same person.

Fred

P.S. Hotty, was the problem that he never had the RS-1s or that he got ripped off for his money and didn't want to still send them?

EVERY TIME a deal sounds this good you need to dig deeper and get some protection like escrow. Otherwise you will end up wishing that you had paid retail instead of never getting your item and end up pissed about your empty bank account.

Here is my old post in the members forum after Nate almost ripped me off:

thanks.... i assume you meant "same one attached to his EBAY account." heh he. but only way i could have found this out without your help was to email him from both accounts, as neither ebat nor audiogon gives out email addresses i believe.

but anyway.... damn man... kids like that belong in JuVee.

thanks for everyone's input on this thread. ...it helps to know there are others looking out for you.

The problem was that it never came. So I called and asked why I did not receive it yet. He came up with some excuse that I have since forgotten. But I do remember that he eventually said that he no longer had them anymore. That is when he tried to sell me the Creek OB-11 and I told him that I thought that the amplifier was not a very good one and just to return my money. A few phone calls later and I got my money. I also got some emails filled with religious phrasing and biblical references from another person apologizing for him saying that he has done this before. I assumed this to be his father.

Orph,

Woops, you caught my slip. Yes, I did mean ebay. Ironically--if this kid had just cut and pasted the subject of the email going to his 'tainted' account to the one he messaged me from, I woul dhave never been the wiser. The only reason he got caught was because he slipped...

guess he didn't know about audiogon/ebay's confidentiality policy.

if you do COD - can you inspect the product and only pay if you like what you see and hear ? - he put in his payment method COD - anyone wanna try him out? .

Do you just invite the UPS man inside for a beer and a listen while you inspect the contents?

If you see a great deal from a seller with a traceable, dubious provenance use only paypal if you feel like hazarding the purchase.
As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, you stand a great chance of getting your money back (eventually).
Don't wish to start a paypal thread here, but paypal pees its pants (how's that for alliteration?) over possible credit card chargebacks. So if there is even the slightest question they will side with the buyer. The flip side, of course, is that they will absolutely steamroll an honest seller without so much as making a marginal attempt to get at the truth. Where paypal is concerned you need to be more wary as a seller than as a buyer.

Thanks guys!
I was looking at Audiogon and saw that ad. I remembered seeing some reference to an ad here, and came here to see if it was the same ad I was looking at.
I had plans for a free extension cord and Creek amp
I no longer have those plans

I wouldn't depend on Paypal's "buyer protection" at all, I've had two issues that required me reporting the incident to paypal to try and get my money back and both times they basically waited ten days before sending me an email saying "you're SOL buddy". I have purchased something from the sellers on Amazon.com that wasn't up to snuff and within 15 or so days Amazon refunded me.

Oh wow, it's a little odd stumbling across this thread 7 years later. I never apologized to hottyson for greatly inconveniencing him back then, so I'd like to take the time now to do so. I was in a very precarious situation, I apologize. I'm glad we were able to get everything straightened out. -Nate Zona
