Official NYC Meet Sat June 2nd 2012 - Page 20

Hi bozebuttons, is it too late to be added to the list?

I have been researching high-end audiophile equipment on this forum for the past four months and I still haven't decided if I should stop now (I recently bought a Denon D2000 and Fiio e17) or continue to make even bigger holes in my wallet. Hopefully this meet will help me decide but what I would REALLY hope to see (and listen to of course biggrin.gif) is the Fostex TH900.

Really excited for this meet :) Unfortunately will not have the ODAC by then, but I'm really excited to see everything there, and research my next logical progression from my current D5Ks :D Thinking maybe some sort of planar...

Or maybe Lawton Audio Modifications....

Printed out 100 forms today for the auction. Really excited for this event.

Tom, at the last NY meet the not-so-silent auction raised way more money than was needed to cover the costs of the hall rental (not sure if it was Yikes or ZenErik who held onto that money).  Will you be putting that extra money towards the rental this time, and will there be enough left over for lunch?

I have the funds which went to the hall rental, all excess funds from the silent auction will go in a fund for future ny meets so who ever organizes

them will not have any out of pocket expenses. As for lunch the  cost was too much to justify the costs.

There will be plenty of places to eat nearby that are not that expensive for members to go & pay for themself if they choose to.

I'd hope that members able to spend thousands on audio equipment can afford to buy food for themselves beyersmile.png

You'd be surprised.  Ask around and you'll find that more than a few people have gone on Ramen noodle diets to fund audio purchases.

I definitely skipped meals to fund my current equipment.  :-)

Hi everyone - Mike here from Ultimate Ears. Just wanted to let everyone know that our audiologist will be onsite the whole day. If anyone ends up buying a UE product, the impression costs will be thrown in along with our show discount. If anyone wishes to get impressions for sleeves or for any other IEM company, we invite you to use our audiologist. She's the best in the business. But we kindly ask you to pay her directly for her services in those cases.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in person.

I'm happy to answer any questions in the meantime.

Until then,

Mike

Hey guys, just saw this info, but please add me - I'm in!

I'm a pretty new member to the community, but I've been a casual lurker on head-fi for a couple of years.  So this will be my first meet.  Was a little hesitant at first glance since I don't know anyone, but how can I miss this?

If I'm coming from Eastern Suffolk (might be visiting the parents), I prob won't be bringing any gear.  If I'm coming from home in Manhattan, I'll bring Q701, FA-003, D-7000, and maybe my Yulong D100 II if anyone wants to hear it.  But my laptop just crashed and I won't have a source for it.   So I'll prob just pass it around.

I'd ask if anyone wants to hop on the train together from the city, and/or would even volunteer to navigate others there from the city, but won't know which direction I'll be coming from until the night before or even day-of.   But feel free to pm me anyway - it might dictate my plans.  Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Richsmith31 (#49 on the list) won't be making it, so if you could take him off the list, that'd be great.  Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience.
