I was still able to order it though for delivery once they get it back in stock. What do you think are the chances that they will honour the price?

You can still order and they will ship when they are back in stock.

...well, I'm certainly happy that I chose to drop by tonight.  $30 for a backup pair?  I can dig it.

Here's hoping that everyone's orders go through and these wonderful headphones finally achieve the level of recognition that they deserve. :beerchug:

By the way, let me know if they are the same as your other pair. I just hope these aren't fakes since the price is too good to be true.

Bought them because of that amazon sale, and I'm hoping the sale won't fall through. Also, Donunus really is a one man hyping crew for the DT 250. You should get paid by Beyerdynamic or something

Not to hijack this thread, but any thoughts on how this compares with the SRH940, and maybe the HD681? If DT250 has the resolving nature of the SRH940, and adds a bit of naturalness, too, I may be a happy camper.

maybe not quite as resolving as the 940 but definitely more natural sounding.

Will do, but it says they're sold directly by Amazon and not a third party so I doubt that they're fakes.  In reading the Deals thread, some are speculating that there was a mixup and this price is for the pads only.  I guess we'll see what happens, but at $30 I'd say that this is more than worth the gamble.

Definitely worth the gamble. If the 30 dollars were for pads then you have extra pads to boot LOL

Like some people have said, does it really have a tad less treble and detail than the HD600? If so, I know for a fact that I will cancel my order. The HD600s were too warm in the mids and treble for my tastes.

Amazon has been selling at 20ish all the time, http://camelcamelcamel.com/Beyerdynamic-DT-250-250OHM-Lightweight-Headphone-Applications/product/B000CZ0RDI?context=browse, so probably it is the pads only and according to the review on the item it is pleather instead of velour. Anyway, I placed an order and will confirm with amazon if it is the headphone.

Maybe this phone will break the Pioneer SE-A1000's hype-o-meter record because of this super sale. Well justified and well deserved hype, hopefully. My ears will be the final judge on that matter for myself, anyway.

The hd600 is airier in fact the hd600 is one of the airiest cans out there but the dt250-250 has more lower treble.

Looking forward to your findings.

Here's my opinion for you to dig into and think about a bit. In listening to the HD600, I found its midrange was perhaps diffuse mainly because of the lack of treble clarity and definition amid its perfect midrange, but never airy because of its decidedly warm nature as a whole that contrasts its midrange. In my experience, the K701/Q701 and, by extension, the SRH940 are airier with a more coherent transition and flow from the mids to the highs, while equaling or maybe even bettering the HD 600 midrange. I characterize the HD600 as the embodiment of the old school audiophile sound--that buttery smooth midrange, artistically warm, upper, mid bass tilted low end and gently lowered upper spectrum. Its midrange is something really special but lacks that little bit of grit in the neighboring highs to take it from nicely relaxing to thought provoking. It is certainly non-offensive and non-obtrusive on the ears but, for me, it is already too much south of neutral. In the greater sense, it is a clear notch above the DT880 and DT990 which both have a decidedly distant midrange and a unnatural peakiness in the upper treble.

Still, I am hoping for two things from the DT250-250 if it does indeed share a lot of commonalities with the HD600. One: A more linear lower range, meaning eliminating the slight artistic warmth curve there and upping the deep bass by several decibels. Two: A better bridge from the midrange to treble, which, judging from your comment about it having more lower treble, and comments elsewhere about the treble, it may actually have this.  In the end, I hope to gain a good warm alternative to the SRH940 that is not too HD600-esque, aside from neutrality and naturalness, or it will not get very much headtime, if any at all.
