The 901 may meet the same level of the DX100, with a different 'flavour' of sound, and of course we're all eager to see what it may bring to the table in the high-end DAP arena, but I genuinely doubt the 901 will actually beat the performance of the DX100 by a particularly significant margin, so, yes, you might see a few DX100s for sale during the honeymoon 'flavour of the month' period following the 901s (eventual) release, but don't be too sure that many DX100 owners will be jumping ship. For all it's irritating quirks, the DX100 sounds extremely good for a portable device.

Do you still have your unit Mython? The firmware is much better than previously. Plus they are currently working on fixing the remaining issues and are even gonna have support with Neutron and Power Amp in native 24/192 down the road. I just don't see the 901 beating that type of versatility and backbone, regardless of what Hifiman releases. This is why I saw so much potential in the DX100 due to android & look they are doing it.

I heard from my friend who went to the Hong kong 901 exhibition section that 901 sounds pretty neutral too which is good news. And also it has a extreme clean background. Fang has been stating that since people criticised that hifiman product has roll off treble, he will make 901 have a flat response graph for people to measure with computer. So 901 will sound very extended I guess without the "high filter" turned off.

Sounds interesting. Looking forward to your comparisons. I think the DX100 still has quite a few tricks up it sleeves in the near future. I just can imagine how good it will be with Power Amp and Neutron being able to use ibassos custom driver instead of the crap on android. :)

No, I sold mine, but only for financial reasons, no reflection whatsoever on the DX100 itself. Fully intend to buy another DX100 in the near future.

I look forward to what the 901 may bring to the party but, as I said, I definitely do not see it blowing the DX100 out of the water - the DX100 is just too good to be stomped on. I think they'll both be different flavours of high-performing, high-end DAP.

lo Mython it is much better sounding than the last time you had it then ;). They really improved the sound a lot with the new firmware update. :)

To be honest I suspected it all a long. I mean there was no reason for them to use android if not for making this move eventually. In all honestly it is stupid to use android on the DX100 otherwise. Pretty much this is the advantage of using android. 3rd party support a long with their own native support. You just can't beat that (kill 2 birds with one stone).

Ok let me clarify one thing.

The DX100 will support (this is a future plan) any 3rd party music player AS LONG as the 3rd party has access to the API, which iBasso has decided to make available to 3rd parties to leverage.

I know Lee posted the person behind PowerAmp is very intrested in this, Same with Neutrino player developer. Foobar2000 should be able to be ported to android and with access to the API for hi-rez.. this opens up a world of options for the DX100 and more importantly, the End USer. :) 

I know Lee know this but might as well state it here.

I have been working very closely with iBasso in improving there software via bug hunting and some code changes that need to take place to make a better user experience from sound all the way to device interaction. They have been receptive to the input for the fixes. The high-rez API call came when I asked them if they would be willing to disclose the source and I would be more than Happy to sign any and all NDA's so I can work on a player for the DX100..They mentioned no on the source (which company wouldn't) but then they mentioned API availability in the future.

This is great news for any current and future owners of the DX100.

For Full disclosure. I do not work for iBasso. I do not market for them.  I do not sell anything to include the DX100. I used to do development work and engineer QA for Best Buy's Exclusive Brands (Insignia, Dynex, Rocketfish, Rocktboost etc). This means I used to do regression testing and debuging Blu-Ray players, "Connected" TV's, mp3 players, digital cameras, wireless audio,  integrated home theater ampligiers, PC peripherals. THis also included working vvery very closely with developers to include bug fixes of what I was seeing during testing.  iBasso has decided that they want me to continue helping them with bug fixes and offered to send me a development DX100 to assist development and debugging.

Just checked again with the Miracle's driven from my home amps (Audio-gd Master-6 and Burson Soloist) which both have a stated less than 1 Ohm output and fed from my Ref 7.1 DAC. The resulting frequency response is basically a ruler flat response. It has a little more bass than the LCD-2 and less treble than the HE-6.

It is in other words it is slightly different from when driven by my HM-801 w/ GAME amp card, but essentially the same. I think the GAME card could have a little higher output than the two home amps, but not by much. Anyway - my impression is also, that the HM-801 LO as well as HO has a little more bass than neutral. The treble roll of is well known, but this is only a slight decrease in output - especially when compared to the many IEM's mountain profile frequency responses.

I am actually very surprised to learn that you (and others?) think that the Unique Melody Miracle is upper-mid-forward sounding. (Where did you see people stating that they hear it like that?) This could actually be your source (the DX100) making it sound like that. At least that's my way of thinking of it when comparing to my sources and amps.

The thing is the DX100 should actually be showing you the true colors of your IEM. So I doubt this is the case. Especially if it is on 1.1.7 or 1.2.7 firmware. Could be his miracles are defective or maybe the DX100 is defective, fit issues etc.
