Yes, but Hoda doesn't make much as much sense as Yoda.

That is true maybe we should summarize the things we like about the HM-901

probably easier to sum what we do not like and let the Hifiman team know.

1. Throw us a bone or/and some information?
2. How can Fang prefer other hifi forums?

It is like being in the desert without water, we are getting delusional and discussing Jabba and Joda Yoda The guys in the DX100 forum will be laughing.

Well looks like the market is changing and China itself is becoming the market the world is catering to lol.

One think that I don't like is the price. With them leaving the 801 on the market, and not changing the price from its current $800 (which is cray cray if you ask me) this thing is going to be expensive. I know that I have seen a couple numbers floated around, and nothing official, but it will have to be significantly more than $800 to leave the 801 on the market at its current price. Which means it will be significantly more than what I find to be a reasonable price for a portable. Some people might be ok paying that, but I would rather use speakers than headphones when I am at home, that's just me. So I am really just looking for something to pair with the UM Merlins that I am about to order.

It is looking more and more likely that I will just be paring them with my Clip+.

Fang had mentioned $999.99

I'm not sure if they are gonna continue making the 801 after the 901 launches. I just don't see the 801 really selling at all. The DX100 crushes it for $30.00 more. Just no competition.

Thank you, I guess I missed that. So yes, too expensive for my tastes.

What are you looking for? The DX100 is the best I've heard so far in terms of portability followed by my Studio V 3rd ANV.

So true, it is a shame that there is no player that ticks all boxes on my wish list. The Hm-901 and the AK100 seem to come close.

I have strongly considered the DX100. The two things holding me up are:

1. They chose to use an sdhc instead of an xc slot. I know that I can reformat cards, but fat32 isn't good for a large file system, and it voids your warranty if you have problems with it.

2. It's not going to Jelly Bean (or at least ICS). I realize that is beyond the control of iBasso, largely, given the chipset that they had to buy at the volume they would be making the device, but Android 4.X is just head and shoulders better than 2.X.

What I am looking for is a nice portable design (design wise, the iRiver AK100 hits the mark for me), a good 24 or 32-bit DAC (which the 901, DX100, and AK100 all hit the mark on) lots of available storage space with room to grow (the 901 is best here, since it supports sdxc, the AK100 is close with its dual slots combined with its 32GB on board) and a great, amplifier with low output impedance (this is where the AK100 falls on its face, the 901 will probably as well, and the DX100 shines).

I want these things so that I have a good portable to pair with the UM Merlins I am going to most likely order in the new year. I guess I can wait to see what the Pogo thing is like. Hisound has just never appealed to me. My Clip+ will do alright while I ponder my choices.
