I am sure this won't be an issue anymore, as long as Fang doesn't promote 901 too much in Japan

How much was it?

2500 RMB, something like 400 dollars. It seems to just be a thing in chinese community of erji.net so far, so I am not sure how it would be eligible to others.

Aside from that, if Fang wishes to improve the situation, he would be wiser to treat people with some respect, which means:

* Not ignoring genuine potential customers for months at a time

* Not talking down competitors' products (particularly when the competing products are real physical products available for actual purchase, rather than the (current) vaporware to which they are being compared). Very unprofessional...

* Not treating potential customers as though they're stupid

* Managing customer expectations of product release dates in an open and sincere fashion. We all understand that there are sometime delays, but a little open communication goes a long way to ameliorating this, rather than deafening 'tumbleweed silence'.

* Not releasing products at very high prices with a deliberate pricing structure to immediately hike the price even further with amp cards or whatever which should rightly be included in the initial outlay as standard.

all of the above makes him sound just like Ivor Tiefebraun - owner of Linn - arrogance worked for him very well indeed

Look like you should get it in the next few weeks, next week if you're lucky. Fang just posted at erji.net that the first small batch is ready to ship out next week to the first group who pre-ordered early in China. The first major batch is estimated at mid-Dec. That should be the main release as well.

[edit] just saw your reply over there...

This is driving me nuts I am interested in buying this product but do not want to wait any longer for it. They have not done a good job communicating to the US as to the ETA and I understand that sometimes they do not know themselves but after a 2 years of development/hype/ and recent delay from the october date...I am starting to become more interested in tangible products like the ibasso dx100. Does anyone feel like they are being strung along on here or is it just me. Once again the products done when its done but silence makes everyone wonder they should at least give there loyal or potential customers an update to keep them interested.

as someone who had $1k waiting since April , I get the impression that the English speaking market is just not important for HIFIMan,

and I certainly won't buy a portable player whose main USP is that it has a docking station!

There is't any real news in the Chinese speaking market too…

At least from what I have been told by Tupac he has been communicating very much with the Chinese from erji.net. So I don't think what you said is entirely true. He has been catering to them on that forum but ignoring the people here. Honestly speaking he may have even had a bigger market here than even in China.

I remember a news report last month, that the Chinese economy was suffering due to slow export to EU and America since the beginning of the year. Till August, the national growth rate is -6%. But in September alone, the growth rate bounced back with a +3% within a month. So by October, the growth rate is standing at -3% in total and still bouncing back with incredible speed. Experts are forecasting an overall positive growth by the end of the year. This is all because of the government policy that switches the economy dependency from export to internal market. If anything, I think, China is going to the main audiophile market in the years to come. I also remember a few months back there was a international luxury car show in Shanghai and over half of the cars in the show were sold after three days. There are also report that the Chinese wine companies are buying off vineyard in French because wine demand is so high in China these days, they can't get enough by import alone, they want to go to the source. It is quite scary how much money the Chinese have these days and how willing they are when it comes to spending.

The HM801 trade in is only for the Chinese market though. Unless you are in China now, I don't think you need to worry just yet.

(this isn't aimed at you, personally, seeteeyou)

Until the HM-901 is ACTUALLY RELEASED (not announced - it was 'announced' well over a year ago), I couldn't care less about anyone giving it a try. In fact, some people have already given it a try in recent months.

Product ON RETAILERS SHELVES is what most of us are waiting to see. THEN there might be some purpose to giving it a try.

Again, this isn't aimed at you, seetoyou, so don't take my remarks personally at all.

Thanks for the links.

"In 2007, HiFiMAN established its worldwide reputation for innovation by introducing the word’s first, high performance portable player. Knowing that was merely a start, in 2009 the company began intensive research on its 2nd-generation player. Now, three years later HiFiMAN is excited to share initial details of this new generation – with an overview of its innovative software, design and sound calibration. More information will be revealed as we approach the official launch of this product in the coming months but here is a glimpse of what we are up to."

I wonder if iBasso took 3 years to develop the DX100 - a player Fang clearly appears to have implied has shortcomings that the, still-not-released after almost 4 years of R&D, HM-901 allegedly improves upon. In my view, having cast aspersions on competing products (seemingly the DX100 amongst others), Fang has a heck of a lot of walking to do to back up his talking. The HM-901 had better be damned good or he'll have egg on his face. I still doubt it will sound much better than the DX100, since, in spite of it's quirks and faults, the DX100 sounds fabulous. Yes, fabulous, even with a digital volume control! wink.gif

Fang, I sincerely hope you give me good reason to truly respect the HM-901 as being the player you appear to have implied is superior to the DX100.
