My friend in the same residence as me just got himself a pair of HD 380s and I've been stealing them for listening sessions every chance I get - not really because I like them, though I do enjoy them a lot, but because I'm keen to see how my ATH M50s stand up to other headphones in a similar price range considering all the "best headphones under $200" styled reviews.

 

Purely out of interest, what do you guys prefer? What aspects of the 380/M50 do you like/dislike? Where do the M50s outshine the 380s and vice versa?

 

PS: I'm talking here about audio quality without an amp/DAC - onboard/Ipod etc and after burn-in of roughly 50 hours.

 

I will update my thoughts on the differences between the two headphones as soon as I've had a decent amount of time with both of them.
