I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I believe with open headphone it's easier for the bass to dissipate before getting to your ears..
With closed headphones your going to feel the bass more from the air pressure in a closed space.
Depends on the headphone - generalistically speaking most open headphones are "lean," but this is not a universal. For example, there's the Ultrasone HFI-2400, which is open, and produces more bass than most headphones overall. And on the other hand, there are closed cans that are "lean" - like the Beyerdynamic T70.
Of course I'm "reaching" to come up with those examples, and I can easily list a half-dozen open-back cans that sound "lean" and a half-dozen closed-back cans that produce quite a lot of bass; the point is that there's no absolute rule of thumb here.
