Variable or Fixed Line-out ?

I have a Panasonic SL-SX469V Walkman CD player that I would like to use with a headphone amplifier.

Which output should be used: fixed output or variable (headphone) output ?

I assume that you will recommend to use the fixed output, but I just want to be sure...

The fixed line out is the best to use.

I would generally say fixed, but there is a shock in store...
