...so what happens when you order some $1700 CIEMS from far away and your 'ear changes' ??? Just curious.

They don't seal well any longer.

Or they could seal too much. Depends really. Silicone supposedly offers better fit and isolation so I look forward to seeing where this goes. With the 8As I could barely hear anything even with no music going. If silicone is that much better (average joe rates it from 5.5 acrylic to a 10 for silicone) then that's some crazy isolation.

No my ortofon tips are fine. Tried the ts500 but it made the bulky housings stick further than I'd like. So I tried phonak tips. Hmm, no vacuum seal at all. Not even a little. But treble has changed a little bit. I need to spend some time to see if its a good thing.

So after an afternoon using the phonak tips, I've decided to buy some backups, especially since they are getting out of the earphone business. The phonak tips smooth out the treble more.  I'd recommend them for people who find the 6k peak a little on the spicy side.  Best of all, no vacuum seal all day.  I'm not sure why but they seal about as much as you can without vacuum.

Thanks for that info.  I am trying to contact BTG now to start an order for it while I hunt down a pair of the tg334.  The feedbacks I read about the ALO/000 etc isn't very positive in terms of the microphonics and flexibility and I need something to go as this primarily will be a togo setup with the AK120.....not a desktop setup where I prefer my headphones probably with the big DAC/AMP stack.  Price seems certainly like a great value, much cheaper than aftermarket cables I'm used to paying for (avid fan of Frank @ toxic cable, asking him to see if he'll do something as well).

I do indeed currently have a small batch in production, i hope to have it up for sale in 4-6 weeks as the wires have just been sent to the overmolder. Below is a picture of a prototype OM connector, although the final version will be in clear, rather then black. Next to it is a hand molded version.

The Poison will only be available with the OM connector, the Virus and Widow still have the hand molded ones. The Virus pictured with the hand molded connector, is yours. biggrin.gif

Frank,

I tried to find the vocabulary words you mentioned above on your website: Poison, Virus (hope it's not contagious), and Widow. I don't see any mention of them. Can you please explain, or provide a descriptive linky.

I've been very happy with my Toxic Cables on my ciems, just to put in a good word for Frank for those who haven't seen his work.
