W4's mid is by no means forward, especially comparing with the 334...

Yes, I know but if you compare with their own sound signature, both of them are considered forward mid iems.

I dont think W4s have forward mids( maybe slighly forward). Can you elaborate a little bit more?

My definition of forwarded midrange is based on vocal. Most of my music are vocal not many instrumental or classical. I came from TF10 which is considered recessed midrange, so that why I consider W4 forwarded mid. TG334 is a lot more forward than W4.

How about bass between W4 and TG334?

I expect most people associate vocals with mids but that is overly simplification. Take a look at this link: http://www.psbspeakers.com/articles/The-Frequencies-of-Music?audio-topics/The-Frequencies-of-Music

W4 is a very neutral IEM while 334 not so much. 334 will have a lot more bass than W4. 334 will be a much more fun sounding IEM opposed to the W4 which some will find plain old boring lol :P.

W4 isn't that neutral, it has a 10k resonant peak and moderate bass boost. 334s have similar bass levels, but actually has better depth, more rumble .Some may find the 334 boring with it's more rolled off treble, W4 is more airy and can actually reach 20k lol (using tapered wide bore tips)

Do they really have similar bass levels? I really find that hard to believe... I mean I find the 334 to be a bass heavy IEM.

Midbass yes, 334 only has a bit more. Subbass wise, there's a bigger difference, 334s have more, not huge though. I find the W4 to be bass heavy lol, but lacking subbass.

I agree that TG334 treble rolled off very fast. With ALO SXC cable, it improves a little bit and I can live with that.

I found that TG334 and W4 bass will vary with different tips. Using comply tip, both TG334 and W4 have very similar bass level with TG334 slightly more. With stock silicone tip, TG334's bass get tighter and heavier than W4 stock.

The original case the 334s came with, right?

I never really used that case as it was too big for me to carry in my pocket to classes, but now I've resigned myself to just keeping them in my bag...

Now that my case issue is solved, time for the cable...
