Fitear customs are larger than the usual customs and it does not have a very deep insertion as compared to other customs that I have tried before (Ie. UM). This is because it covers largely the outer part of your ear and so the seal is even better than my UMs. I feel that a deeper insertion may cause the seal to break more easily as the ear canal changes shape over time as compared to the outer ear. Hence, the impression that is required by Fitear to make the customs is also different from other companies! At least this was what I heard from the guy who took my impression as he said it needed to cover the whole outer ear if not the impression would be rejected by Fitear.

Makes sense. Are there directions posted for the audiologist who takes the impressions?

Anyone here tried the TG!334 with the RSA Shadow/FiiO E6?

Wondering if my Nano 6g + an amp will do better than my iPhone 4 for my various IEMs.

I've auditioned the MH334 and the TG with a Nano 6g + Shadow. Coming from JH16 I didn't really find either of them that engaging during the short audition time, for first impressions I much prefer the MH335DW on the same setup as it has the same sparkle of the 334 while still having a bass punch presence which I've grown to be accustomed with due to the JH16. Though I think with some brain re-adjustment (say listen to them for a week) I can probably grow to like the 334s as well.

I did and I didn't particularly like them all that much, I found them too bright for my tastes. I preferred my MH334 customs with the 000 cables, they have a more balanced sound overall. I would also like to add that I am absolutely in love with the MH334 customs, the best portable IEM I have listened to so far. The MH334 customs are magical when combined with a good source and a top end portable amp.

No wonder. The Monet (or Mone) uses 2 ED drivers for mid/highs compared to the 334, but that's how most anime songs are.

with stock and ALO cables.. yes I felt the sound is in my head but with the 000 cables, it isn't anymore but all in front of you, doesn't sound like a compressed soundstage, mids have a lot of breathing room as all instruments and vocals are noticeably separated to each other

Does the 000 make quite a difference to the alo cable you say? I'm curious about this.

Soullinker and I have auded the TG334 with other friends of ours and we all agree the 000 has a huge difference over the ALO SXC cables.

Oh wow, superior to the audio differences already present with the ALO cable?

As Soullinker said, bigger soundstage. Clearer and more spacious.

Can someone please give ( a link?) the specs for the 000 cable. How does it differ from the ALO and the stock cable?

Should we try and compile a list that tells readers how well the TG!334 sounds with various sources?

Once my 334 arrives I'll be trying it with all the sources I have available and posting my impressions here.

Sources I'll be using:

iPod Nano 6g

iPhone 4

Zune HD

Cowon J3

Macbook Pro 13" 2012

I think that the list will be helpful for potential buyers as well as current owners of the 334 tongue.gif

For example, I'd like to know how much better/worse the 334 sounds with a digital transport (e.g. CLAS, HP-P1) or with an amp (e.g. RSA Shadow, Pico Slim)

I didn't try the stock cable but Jumped straight to the ALO balanced cable as soon as I had them.. on the ALO cable, it shows how deep and how tall the soundstage is and everything is more upfront but not obtrusive.. if you happen to come from IE8s, fx700, ex1000 ... with the ALo cables, yes they would still sound pretty congested..

000 cables, if you want more soundstage.. and for me (note: this just my subjective OWN opinion) the tg334 running on the hdp-R10 dx100, the soundstage is very, very close to the dynamic drivers mentioned above (those are open IEMS, the tg334 we know isn't) and i know what congested or claustrophic soundstage is if you look in my sig... the layering is much much better for me on the 000 cables than ALO, cymbals are airier.. the 000 cables sound more coherent but you get to picture the distances between the instruments, some instruments even sound farther than the other.. the SS has more depth..

I would say that their soundstage presentation is very identical to the SM3v2.. but not SURROUND SOUNDSTAGE like what the sm3 does, like on the SM3, you hear the note from its starting point

til its very last sound or decay, i didn't hear this on the w4 but only on sm3 and now with tg334 and obviously the sm3 has larger SS than w4.. the 000 cables sounds more distant, as to say laidback compared to ALO..

so in a nutshell how do the TG334 w/ 000 cables really sound to me?

put the W4's presentation on the SM3's soundstage and make it more expansive and deep on the front, taller, wider, deep.. the vocals are not as forward like on the SM3 but very much like on the W4, slightly forward but never obtrusive (ALO cable) and still not as forward as on the W4 (000 cable)  <----  the vocals aren't really pulled back but the bigger soundstage make it seem pulled back even more but really isn't pulled back

remember how the bass drums sound on the W4? add more transparency and distance and it sounds more rounded on the tg334 with spaces on each drum from left going to right (track: Incubus' Are you in: and DT's The Count of tuscany)

dissect the W4 (like what Iron Man did on Iron Man 2 when he studied the picture frame),  put more spaces from lows - mids - highs

this may seem exaggerated but I

hope this helps

thanks.

Amazing description, thanks for such a detailed comparison.

Now I just have to decide if I want to spend another $440 on top of the cost of the TG!334s themselves, and the ALO cable. Perhaps if it's that much better, I could recoup like 35% of the cost by selling the ALO... Would Musica Acoustics be the best place to get it right now?
