Maybe they take a hammer and break it apart.

@tom

You make (C)IEMs ?? eek.gif

You look at a lot of them; you then know what models are commonly used, and which frequencies they're most often used in. Not that difficult.

No, I don't have the capability, but I am in the process of designing my own setup so that I can commission a company to build it for me. Takes a while when you can't listen for yourself.

I dare you to do that to your 334, 111, 4.Ai, 3.Ai! biggrin.gif

Yeah, I've been curious about a possible ED >> 2389 secret switcheroo as well; it makes sense.

I had a word with a salesman from Colsan long time ago and he confirmed they are very similar, not sure to what extent though.

I would if I can afford them... unfortunately, budget is tight for a high school student like myself.

I am bilingual only in speech, because I have language difficulties.

Wow.....

Interesting, because I know where to get them made but don't have the capability to design my own driver setup.

I've had my custom shell made for me in my second attempt to make my own CIEMs, but failed to embed the artwork in my faceplate.

Sorry, I don't love you as much I do Sinocelt. Guess that means I'm not getting one for either of you? tongue_smile.gif

Thank you very much, eke2k6. mad.gif

It's not my fault. He never really loved either of us, and he was just just looking for an excuse to shirk his responsibilities.

Maybe it's done on purpose to confuse people (like me) and prevent them from instantly breaking down their component technology the moment it comes out? Well, if I didn't do it, someone from Japan surely would've. They're even better at it than I am! Heh.

seems like they added the titanium tubing for this model

lol what? no....?

So I went to my local headphone shops today and demo'd some stuff, including the MH334 and MH335.

Really like the (sub) bass on the 335!

and yeah, I confirmed that the 2 big receivers on the 335 are CI's glued together, so it's probably the same for the Monet.

Though I can't identify the dual mids receiver and the treble one.....

I've also noticed that the treble receiver is not damped.

There's a short article up on AV Watch on the Monet. Nothing really new, but some interesting points were listed.

http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20121024_568134.html

If I'm reading it correctly, they say these headphones were designed to be good for playing anime songs. Also, during development they listened on the Keiyo and Hibiya train lines using 70% anime songs as a source. An interesting approach to say the least :)

One other thing they note is that the Monet model will ship with the upgraded 000 cable (silver plated copper with thicker wiring and fancy braiding)

I'm interested in the Monet because I listen to a fair amount of anisongs.  It's also interesting that in the article they said the original idea to develop Monet came about because Suyama's boss himself likes anisongs (nice PR to win lots of brownie points).  Also I noticed that a lot of the anisong singers and their band members use FitEar CIEM on stage (the cable receiving unit of FitEar CIEM is so distinctive it's hard to miss) so that probably has something to do with it as well.

I just hope this isn't a ploy to milk otakus dry and that the tuning is actually what it claims to be.  However I'm also very skeptical because anisong is not a music genre but a fairly meaningless label given to songs which are related to anime, manga and video games and as such strictly speaking the type of music is actually pretty diverse so it remains to be seen whether it really lives up to the premise or not.

Well, we can't be sure for this picture, but I know they have been experimenting with using the titanium tubing on their customs. Interesting that if they did, they didn't specifically make a note of that in the details, though.

Well, the 335 just has an extra CI over the 334, so like I mentioned in previous posts, the dual-mid receiver is the Sonion 3300 series, while the highs are either the Knowles ED-29689 or the Sonion 2300 series.

Very envious of you HK people, with all those demos.

Yeah, that seems like what they did. Apparently, they were adamant about testing the sound quality in noisy environments to enhance practicality. I've always been concerned about the isolation of FitEar customs, though, since they tend to terminate early in the ear canal, instead of right before the second bend. I'm not really an anime person, so I don't know what would specifically make anime music sound involving, but it'd sure be interesting to find out what they did.

Is the 000 cable silverplated copper? I was under the impression that it's pure silver - my 000 cable was sliced 'n diced by ALO to balance it & that's what they discovered during the process.

Really? Doesn't Suyama say that it's SPC? (Forgot where I read that...)
