FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal! - Page 74

My mistake. Thought you were insinuating that all amps will hiss which is not the case at all. If anything the amps you are using now are not suitable for sensitive IEMs. Have you ever considered maybe selling one of them and getting a portable amp that is compatible with IEMs?

I'm also looking forward to the 901. If it is bug free and sounds as good if not better than the DX100 I'll be getting it. Still I highly doubt the 901 will sound "much" better than the DX100, possibly better yes but that remains to be seen. But if ibasso manages to get their act together and fix the remaining UI issues I'll stay on the ibasso side.

Yes it will. It uses dual ES9018, which is already a quality sounding chip. I would say Bian has put some real effort to make it sing this time.

2 doesn't mean it will sound better lol. It all comes down to implementation (BTW ibasso also uses that chip). Don't let yourself be fooled by all the jargon because in the end how the internals are all set up will determine the sound, not just based on the DAC or Amp. The Studio V has an inferior DAC as they say in comparison to the Sflo2s dual Wolfsons and the Studio still runs circles around the Sflo2 sound quality wise. We'll see.

I'm really hoping the hm-901 will be the best dap (sound quality wise) yet, looking on the dx100 thread, all I see is people complaining about problem xyz yada yada... tongue.gif

I did not mean that 2 will be twice better. What I mean is, these chips are not cheap and from this design u can tell Bian is being serious about the product. After I bought the HE-500, I got convinced that he knows what sounds "right". So I assume the overall sound signature would be superior than the DX100.

Thing is cz it's not good to assume. That will steer you down the wrong path to bias. Bias leads to placebo. What I am after is the better overall unit (I could care less which brand it is as long as it fills my needs). I expect both the sound and UI in one package without the ridiculous flaws we've all come to know regarding Chinese-DAPs. Now Hifiman remains to prove itself so I'm not gonna get my hopes up. Because every time I do, the product always fails to meet my expectations. So as I said, we'll see. Although it is good to be optimistic it's never good to assume it's gonna be better than what is already out. Better to wait til it's out and wait for multiple comparison and then take a risk. Or be an early adopter and take an even bigger risk. I mean look at the iRiver. It was suppose to be the "next thing" come to find it's an epic fail due to the ridiculously high output impedance from the tests.... rolleyes.gif

I agree with all your comments. Thanks for remind me lol. I am listening to my 334 right now, it sounds sooooo juicy and lively. My JH13 has superior resolution and bass texture but it just can't keep up musically. Japanese are really good at making their products sounds "right", just look at the FA single BA driver miracle...

In the end he did sell them 'cos of fit size however if the Singapore Head-Fiers do a meet, you may get a chance to listen to them before deciding to buy them or not. Ping uel, find out to whom he sold the IEMs to and see if they're interested in a meet - maybe get other Singapore Head-Fiers to meet too.

thanks Anakchan, ill try to find whos has the fitear here and start with uel.

Thanks I was curious about this.

Why all the talk of other expensive amps and sources? Won't the fuze or clip power the 334 just fine?

They sound just great out of my iPhone, but there are better sources to be sure. I bet they sound killer out of a Benchmark and B22. There is a niche of audiophiles with psych disorders who are amping their sources and using IEMs. I can't fathom the need to amp an HPP1 (for example) + 334 combo. Psycho-acoustics. Emphasis on the former. ;)

Definitely. They are super efficient, so the need for better sources/amps doesn't lie in the need for more power, but better sonics. They're so revealing that they convey improved sound from amps/DACs/better sources quite easily.

I've found that the biggest improvements come from upgrading the music files, and the DAC. A good amplifier will simply take that signal and make it louder.

The amp and the dac or both equally important.

The amp doesn't really do much, when you look at what the DAC does. The dac takes the bits and converts them to analog impulses, which is a pretty big deal. All the amp really does is just take those impulses and increase their amplitude, giving more power/headroom.
