I can't compare the TG!334 to the LCD3, or ES5, but I would say the treble is definitely not dark in the least. In fact, to me, it's some of the best top end I've ever heard. I don't understand this obsession with the last iota in treble extension which seems so prevalent here sometimes. I mean, to me, the 334's have some of the most detail and resolution of anything I've heard. They're so far beyond the likes of Monster Coppers, IE8's, SM3's, even Westone 4's.... that it's silly to even do direct comparisons with earphones like that. 

 

I hope you get the chance to hear them, and are able to get a good fit and hear them at the best of their abilities. If you're at all concerned about the treble, definitely get a listen somehow before purchasing.

I wouldn't call it smooth, of course they are smoother than spiky treble fones like grados but the tg334's treble is not that forgiving. It is easy to listen to nonetheless.

The lack of extension is not that obvious, I would hazard a guess that it is source dependent since on some songs the highs were just perfect. Plus had it not been for me being exposed to the ed's sound signature frequently I probably wouldn't have been able to spot that particular treble drawback.

X2 on the LCD2/3 resemblance. though they are not identical, there are similarities in the way they reproduce sound.

Yes, it's relative here. If I just had the hd650 or audeze cans, the treble extension would have been sufficient. . But when compares to ultrasone signature pro, th900 and maybe akg3003I (reference or high boost), I was like Err..where is the sparkle? And the shaker instrument that i know to be so presence was hardly there... Yes its still there but hardly noticeable. But then I may be listening to "distorted" sound as there are more people who like warm sound signature than me. An example was with shure p 500 to 535, there are lots and lots of people who say these phones is very detailed and clarity superb. I can never understand that detail and the super clarity reviews even after owning the original p500 when it was first launch and have been buying all other version since, shure 530 535 as some said the treble is now improved and go on to say its a much brighter phone ... When I had mine, I thought, dang I must have a defective one... It sounded the same as my original p500. .

I think i am starting to believe there are 2 schools of thought here in terms of tonality and both have massive fans. The audeze cans and the legendary hd650, most believe they are warm and very detail.. Then there are the th900, Ultrasone Ed, signature pro and probably stax people, who claim this is what detail suppose to sound... I think I am in the latter group.

 

I did quite a bit of comparing of the 334 and ES5 but I cannot really answer your question directly. I am not a fan of treble. To me it only every causes problems in the excess. I never met a high-end headphone that I otherwise liked that had "too little treble". It sounded fine, i.e. it wasn't too bright.

 

But I can say this. The 334 is more transparent than the ES5 on a direct comparison. I don't attribute that to treble extension. Everything is just a bit clearer and more forward. The sound of the 334 is also thicker whereas the ES5 is more delicate. The 334 has more upper bass than the ES5 and it is not especially well-controlled. The ES5 bass is definitely cleaner. This (bass control) is the one relative weakness of the 334 and it is addressed nicely in the universal version of the Private 335 that I heard. If I were getting a Fitear custom IEM, it would be the 335 all the way.

 

(Some people on here that I respect have been praising the 333 but I didn't get what the fuss was about. The 333 is big and bold and forward - I guess that equates with fun - but it lacks the subtlety and nuance of the 334 and 335. Difference in tastes for sure.)

 

Overall I was really impressed with the 334. I could not believe that a universal could sound that good and have such jaw-dropping transparency. To be clear, I have no complaints with the transparency of the ES5 and as I walked away from Jaben, I was still happy with what I already own. But the 334 is quite an accomplishment.

 

Comfort is a bit of an issue. It's not bad but they are a bit clunky. I haven't yet found tips that work especially well for me. The large Sony hybrids were okay. I think that I would ideally need larger biflanges with these than what Fitear provides.

One thing to remember here is that with a deep fit, you will get bass bass and more bass with not enough treble and lots of congestion. The 334 needs to be inserted midway, not deep, not too shallow. Too shallow thins the sound out too much and makes the soundstage a bit too wide. Midway makes a very very balanced signature. Again, I do wish for a bit more treble extension (a personal preference that makes me prefer the 333), but apart from that, with perfect fit, there is absolutely NO problem areas at all. 

 

But among every earphone I've used, fit with the 334 is the most important thing to achieve first.

I tend to think otherwise.

I am certainly in the subtle treble group. I sold my ck10, dab-02 & fx700 within weeks of buying. To be fair, there was fit issues as well but I do prefer less sparkle. The ES5 felt like a better W4 & the difference was not dramatic. To these ears, the 334 difference is dramatic. The mid bass hump is mild & they definitely sound like the LCD2 to me - can't directly compare as those monsters have been passed along.

Suggestions please where to purchase the tips?

I am very interested in the 333, is this a universal or custom? Any place I can buy?

Similar to lows, mids are clean – ever so clean. In fact, if anything comes through with more aplomb, it is the space which is generated in the mid section by this earphone. Sure, bass is energetic, punchy, and detailed. And highs, are pretty much in the same boat, but the mid section sings in a dwarfing space. Most balanced armature earphones foot spacious mid-sections, but the 333 puts them to shame. It is wide, wide, WIDE! And in that vast chamber of sound, the 333 has a slightly more tender spot for male vocals than for female, but both are cleanly beautiful, though erring a little more dryly again than the JH13Pro. I don’t want to make the mistake of turning readers off of this earphone by my adjectives. When I mention clinical, I mean clean, leaving no trace. This isn’t an AKG K701, it is closer to a Beyerdynamic DT880, or again, the DJ1Pro. But still, the 333 is technical first, and lovely second.

Is there a distributor in us? As usual my weakness is impulsive buying when It comes to headphones.. Buy first and regret later .
