I find that I have to change tips based on IEM designs (insertion, how they are placed on my ears, etc). So basically I have to find the right pair for each IEMs unless they share similar design. C'est la vie.

Similar to me with my EX1000 and IE80. I couldn't get "details" with IE80 and EX1000. They are fun IEMs but was looking for something with more details. They are wide, but just didn't have the micro-details I was looking for if that makes any sense.

 

I find that BA does better job with micro-details than dynamics in general. Surprisingly 334 had wide range for BA IEM while keeping things transparent. Although I consider 111 to be more neutral but lacks in the sound-stage department.

 

Regarding detail I'm not so sure if I can fully agree on that point. On the IE80 yeah I agree. But the EX1000 and MDR-7550 I think are quite on par in this. But the presentation is quite different and in that I could see it as possibly being harder to notice that detail. But in my case not so much. But the presentations are very different as is how we all perceive sound. But the IE80s with the tape mod is noticeably more detailed. Especially in treble and mids. Bass is tamed but has lots of impact still (mid bass is taking a back seat in comparison to sub bass). I think at some point dynamics may very well take the lead. It's a matter of time but I do think it is quite possible. We'll have to see what Sennheiser brings to the table ;).

With EX-1000 everything's there, it's just that I have to focus a bit. You know how humans are, we are lazy creatures :P

That's what I kinda figured you were saying ;). I agree on that. You gotta more so listen for the detail. I think in my case I kinda like that aspect of it lol. I'm on the opposite end where if it's being forced on me I'm more likely to get upset or fatigued. But that is gonna be more so an issue with treble spikes, sibilance, or overbearing bass. :P

 

I did notice that I really enjoyed the AKG3003 presentation while out and about. It's nature was more so of a forceful one and in that made it very easy to notice detail even when distracted. Something that I really appreciated and maybe something I am looking for in an IEM when out in public. Probably another reason why I love the Studio V when I'm out because it's presentation is very energetic (like acid), the imaging is crazy good and just commands your attention. While in contrast if I'm at home and am intending on analyzing things I may not appreciate it so much :).

Or the perfect ear tip lol.

 

For me regarding customs the issue is if my ears are allergic to acrylic as I am under the impression acrylic causes my ears to get raw almost to the point of bleeding. So compatibility issues. I'll eventually give it another shot but if it's still a no go then SE5 for me...

Surprisingly I am quite content with my current gear but it's always nice to upgrade although at the same time it is like chasing a magic dragon. I think I could be content with what I have at this point (at least in comparison to the past lol). But it's also a hobby and an expensive one at that... New toys.... very_evil_smiley.gif

One day, just one day our brain will evolve and listen to music without headphones/iems.

 

Is 000 cable the default cable or is this something else? I checked Musica Acoustics and saw 000 cable. It looks like the default cable that came with my 334.

This may very well be true.

My 334 is later batch too, and the highs are actually a bit bright for my liking... and it's freaking sensitive, so maybe it is because they changed something...

Bought mine from ALO on September 18th, they were out of stock for a while.
