I purchased my ATH-M50 in June of 2011 from Amazon, and it has been used as my principal portable during that time. However, I'm slowly becoming bored of its familiar sound signature, and I'm looking for something more portable now (AKA an IEM) for around town as well as a new SR80i for office and home rock listening.
The M50 comes in almost-perfect condition, with only one minor flaw. The coiled metal piece coming off of the plug has unscrewed itself from the plug, which has no impact whatsoever on the structural integrity of the piece. As you can see in the photos, it's still perfectly intact, and there has been no impact on the cord or connector from this. It seems purely cosmetic, and it barely affects that either. Other than that, it has functioned perfectly for over 1000 hours of listening time, and while it has seen some abuse (it was dropped down an escalator once by a German store security guard) nothing has been affected by that. It is the most durable headphone I've ever owned, which was the principle reason it was my portable.
The one non-stock aspect of the ATH-M50 is that I've put velour pads from the Fischer Audio FA-003 on it, which gives more space between your ears and the drivers. I did this because, as is often a complaint with the M50, the stock pads uncomfortably press your ear directly against the cloth over the driver, making long-term sessions impossible. With the FA-003 pads this is eradicated and it feels fine for long listening, and the impact on sound is negligible to none at all. If you wish, I can purchase new stock earpads for it with an additional $10 increase in price.
The headphones come in their original white-box packaging in mint condition, along with their stock 1/4" screw-on connector and black carrying pouch, which has a bit of wear and some random silver paint on it (see photos) from testing a DIY headphone stand before it was clear-coated. All original documentation is included along with the near-mint headphones.
The lowest online price from a reviewed seller above 3 stars in rating for a new ATH-M50 is $150, with most major online retailers pricing it at $160 and authorized refurbished units selling from $130.
I will accept 110 USD through Paypal, or a partial-trade, partial-money deal. My main two aspirations for trade are a Grado SR80i or Klipsch S4, both with $20 on top. However, I'm open to other trade options if you want to propose them.
Shipping is US- and Canada-only for the time being, but that could change as time goes on. I'm located in Wisconsin, and the buyer is responsible for shipping costs and choosing the shipper.
