Are you talking about the synergy with the hp1000 or are these just the best amps in general (in your opinion) ?

If you had to choose only one amp to use with the hp1000 between the WA5 (non upgraded version), the Zana deux SE and the gsx what would you personally choose?

IMO the EAR HP-4 trumps the BA.
There's just that slight bit more detail retrieval and a punchier bass.

i usually listen to my hp1000 through xlr output of benchmark dac1 with an adapter

will a separate headphone amplifier improve the SQ?

I have an HP-1 and I'm pretty satisfied the way they sound through the Phonitor. I will be soon upgrading the tubes in my Stratus and will report back.
