Wanted DAP player with easy line out, is there such a thing?

Ideally it would be 32gig or more, and have NO headphone output, just really looking for

a quality line out to put into my Voyager or X-cans.

It seems some DAPs do have line out, but it's via a docking cable, or something else.

Is there not a player wiith just a 3.5mm fixed line out?

using with either

HD600, AKG270P,ADH-2000,SR60, ATH55 or PX200

price, preferably no more than £300, must play WAV files

thanks

HiFiMan players do, the new iBasso guy does, and I am sure the colorfly does. You can use external storage to get over 32GB. Also, why would it have to have no headphone out? Does the extra hole hurt your feelings. wink.gif  And the iPod LOD gives you exactly what you want http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-20-Inch-Line-Cable-iPhone/dp/B005DK08X6/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329755532&sr=1-4

I don't think you are going to find one, however, completely devoid of a headphone out...that's kind of what DAPs are designed to drive.

EDIT: Missed the WAV requirement, any reason you don't want to go to a lossless compression? That way you take up less space on your drive, but it's exactly that, lossless.

This is the thing I don't like about half the head-fi demographic. people try to be so unconforming.

YOU JUST LISTED ...AN IPOD right there

an ipod classic would be the best cheapest choice. all ipods support line out. they support .wav and .alac and .aiff storage goes from 8GB to 120GB

they are usually used with an FiiO L3/L9/L10

and then used in conjunction with an external amp(this is absolutlley needed)

so it's only Apple, really?

all my CDs are ripped as WAVs, I will always use a headphone amp, so don't need the

DAP to have a headphone output, just want to use it a source component.

....you don't need to use the headphone out..most DAP's come with one bc if they remove it. they would lose so much money from the people that don't want to use an external amp. they have to be universal here. with Apple LOD..you don't need to use the headphone out. just think of it as a hole that's there

plz..just reencode the .wav's into .m4a ALAC's. uncompressed lossless is useless. you will be able to get away with.wav's using an ipod classic. but with others.....you won't be able to for too long. if you want to know more about sound science and formats, just ask away. and sorry if i seem ..confrontational or tense or something. i just really don't like how people always give criteria that matches exactly what Apple offers and start getting my cannon ready gs1000.gif i do too many posts..it gets..very repetetive

oh sorry. bc stands for "because" it's short hand

every person has their own reasons and i will respect yours :D theres the Samsung Galaxy Player. it's a lackluster reviewed player running Android but very pricey and Sony Walkman Z series. from the looks. the Z series is not as good as a buy....it's landlocked to japan, no removable storage..and basically an expensive landlocked ipod

I'd also suggest an rockboxed iPod but since you don't like those, a Colorfly C4 would also do nicely here. You can probably get a 32gb expansion slot + the unit for a total 40gb portable player for under £200.

rockbox with ipod classic. Since you want wave, you will end up better with more storage.

you can't rockbox the current ipod classic. rockbox for the current classic is in pre stable development right now...as in..you don't want to use it yet. 120 GB's is good enough..unless you have a crap ton of music

I understand the desire to avoid Apple, I truly wish more people would. I still think the HiFiMan HM-601 w/an SD would suit you. What do they run in the UK? They are $200USD here, Which is around £125.

Missed a letter there. I was going to say Colorfly CK4 8gb + 32gb micro sd should take you just under £200.

Yes I do agree new Apple products should really be avoided. I too myself use a 5th gen upgraded/modded classic and it works with rockbox with no issues.

Why should Apple products be avoided? Things like Colorfly's and others and Hifiman's are very expensive. and some people like myself don't want to dual amp and want a line out.

I don't want to get in a huge argument here about it, but from an economist's perspective, Apple is about the worst offender when it comes to leveraging information assymetries, increasing producer surplus (theirs) at the expense of consumer surplus (ours). They have done a lot for many industries, including that featured on this board, but we as consumers would be a lot better off if we were a touch more demanding. And just fyi, the iPod classic starts at $50 more than the HiFiMan 601, which is the one that I recommended.

You've basically anwsered yourself, their becoming much more of a status symbol and because of that can charge their extremely loyal customer base exorbitant prices. Companys like Colorfly are releasing budget lines to beat competitors like Apple and usually give you better value for your money. Relevent link.
