I guess they changed it... If you go on the deals thread it was 590 for a while

I highly, highly doubt this. And yes, there can be a $300 price increase for a minor addition of features that makes a product more premium or that targets a different demographic. It also wouldn't explain every other Sennheiser going up to SRP...

And the D7000 hasn't been $600 in a long time; they're around $800 at Amazon right now.

I was just thinking about it and I believe it's because of the RS 220 pricing. Since the RS 220 and hd650 both use the same drivers there can't be a 300$ difference just for the wireless capabilities. Therefore they increase the price of the hd650 to help sell the rs220

Electronics Expo has them for $547 or something like that every so often (usually every 1 or 2 weeks) as an "open box", which has been commonly reported as new but with broken seals on the box.

Well, it's not like pricing the HD 650 at $500 suddenly makes it better than the other mid-fi headphones (DT880, K701) which are still in the $250 range. Doesn't that put it dangerously close to HE500 territory?

Yeah I think that's been hammered pretty well.

Well this is incredibly lame. Went to Amazon to buy them and whattayaknow... they are $150 more than they had been for the past 2 years when I was thinking about buying them!
