Need advice

I need a good combo for an amp and dac, or amp/dac, for under 200$. I will be paring them with my Brainwavz HM5's and T50rp's (modded). I was thinking about the Electric Avenues Pa2v2 and HRT Music Streamer 2. Value matter a lot to me, high school student don't get paid much, and it must be powerful enough to drive the t50rp's.

I also saw the audio engine d1 is also a very good dac. Any Suggestions?

Audio-GD NFB 12.1? You'll have to save a little longer--$215 + s&h. But it's an amp that will last you through college and probably beyond.

One more thing, many people have been stating the heat make the dac/amp start to smell? Also, they said they have bad build quality, just assuming?

It's probably got more to do with the plastics and glues available in China, as well as how the chassis itself is made. My new amp definitely smells like ozone and there is a slight smell besides that. I don't really know what it is--the only difference between bespoke and mass-produced (like Sony) is that Sony cares less and uses lower-quality components overall.

It only smells when you open the chassis. Otherwise it's odorless.

Build quality is decent. Cheap volume pot; although I surely don't expect good volume pot at 200 bucks =p.
