Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10's alternative

Hello all!  I just picked up a pair of UE TripleFi 10's.  After a bit of listening, I find that the bass and mids are great but the treble is way too harsh.  Is there a similar IEM that has the same tight bass without the harsh high end?  I know eq'ing is an option but if another set of IEM's is available which would work without having to EQ I'd like to give them a go.

Cheers,

J

I have pair of TF10s & I also dislike it's highs.

Take a look at Yamaha eph-100 which I also have.

Better dynamic bass, warm forward MIDS & treble with detail but no harsh highs at all.
Excellent separation that helps to create 3d like immersive sound with trance/EDM in particular.

£80/$125 delivered. See thread.

+1 for Yamaha EPH-100's

Also think Klipsch Image X10's are worth considering though they have a different sound signature.

IMHO, with a better cable the highs calm down.

I hear using comply foam lessens the highs

Yep. And I find they lessen bass & clarity as well with IE7s I have.

Ah... yeah.  I'm trying the foam now and it is markedly better on the highs.  I'm going to listen to them for a bit and report back.  I'm very sensitive to high frequencies; my main home stereo is all planar magnetic / ribbon stuff so I'm used to a very airy smooth treble range.

After some more listening, I've decided the TripleFi 10's are a no-go for me (even with the comply's).

What I'm looking for compared to the TF10's:

More bass, more mids, less treble, smoother treble

More open soundstage

Any thoughts?

I'd like to stay in the sub $150 range if possible...

*GASP* the highs on these are AMMMAAAAZING

try the vsonic gr07 maybe?

Hmmm. Turbine Coppers mostly meet those requirements but I don't know if you could get it for less than $150 with a warranty, and you definitely want a warranty with those due to QC issues. Perhaps ebay plus a Squaretrade warranty.
