Hifiman sent me HE-6s, I ordered HE-300s. - Page 2

You never know. Because of your honesty they may just let you keep them. I hope they do because honesty such as yours is a rare thing these day and deserves to be rewarded.

Haha that poor sap just opened a box and raged! "HE-300's?! These are a quarter of what I ordered! aaahhhhhhh" They just caused someones grandchild to have to wear a dog collar in the future! Keeeeeeppppppp theeeemmmmmmmmmm!

Honesty is the best policy.

Definitely you shouldn't have to pay for shipping back.  I would like for them to offer you a HE-500 instead like they are doing for the HE-400 people without having to pay for the difference but that might be optimistic.

Maybe they will just offer $100 next purchase.

Maybe it was a disgruntled employee wanting to give it to Hifiman before they got let go?

I feel for you not having your new phones to listen to right now.  This is one of life's tests.....will you pass?

Happy birthday eltocliousus ! biggrin.gif

Your shared excitement is joyful !

Talking about the morality of the case, if it was only a small upgrade (ie HE-300 -> HE-400), I would keep it, but the $1000 difference would make me return them because Hifiman is not a big company like S*ny for example.

They are loosing big money on this mistake (you realized the remarkable build quality by your yourself)... frown.gif

Anyway, I think you have 2 options :

  • Keep it and serve the devil ! very_evil_smiley.gif
  • Send it back to Hifiman but ask them for a compensation (upgrade ?).

It's be fantastic if they could send me HE-400s instead of the HE-300s as I'd still be able to power them without chalking out an arm and a leg for an amplifier, just sent the email to customer service now, will update the thread with the reply once they get back to me, if they have me pay shipping I'll have to keep them regardless of if I can use them or not, I simply can't afford it.

Good luck!  I hope they will at least give you the HE-400s!  Please let us know!

IMO always do the honest thing because it's the right thing to do. You will always come out on top if you do the right thing. Like others have said they may let you keep them or compensate you some how anyway.

The OP is a lucky bastard.

give them a try and then return (but contact them first), that is what I would do. and they should cover the shipping.

Imagine your HE6 breaks after a month usage, now you have lot of explanation to do :)

Tell them you got the wrong product in that way you will get some compensation + the warrant for sure.

I'm not sure about England, but in Texas you'd be allowed to keep them unless the company paid to have them shipped back.  There is an anti-scam law that makes them a gift.  Although it may not apply to a misorder.  If they do not pay for shipping them back, check your local laws to see if you're allowed to keep them.  I bet you can, otherwise companies could pad orders.  Companies used to pad orders and send things you don't want.  That's why they have laws now.  You should make an effort to make it right, but you shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.

Just listened to them from the FiiO E10, honestly they just sound "ok", even coming from XB500s, not very impressed, I hope they sound better on a equally pricey amp.

I am generally a pretty honest person and TBH if a company sent me out some headphones that were better then what I ordered I would just keep them.... I mean at the end of the day you havn't purposely stolen anything or harmed anyone... It is their mistake not yours... Ah well that is just my opinion and I sense you wanted the other ones due to amp limitations anyway...

Yup, you'd be better off with the HE-300 frankly, without an amp to power the HE-6. wink_face.gif

Your video was hilarious! Though I would have probably reacted similarly.

If I were you, I'd give them a call and tell them the truth. They might even let you keep them because of your honesty and most importantly because of PR rolleyes.gif
