GoVibe Petite? GoVibe Magnum?

I'm quite interested on these two portable amps, mainly because I might be looking for an upgrade from the FiiO E11 and because a relative from Indonesia will come by in a few weeks.

Since there are Jaben stores in Indonesia, I've been looking at their selection of headphone amps and well, being quite budget limited, I've settled between these two because they've got a DAC so that I can plug in into my laptop if needed. But the problem is that there are so few technical specifications available for these two amps that I'm beginning to worry about if they are worth it. I might not necessarily buy it but I just want some more info on these two amps.

Any detailed specifications?

How does the two compared to the FiiO E11? FiiO E17?

What are they're characteristics like sound signature?

Are they warm or bright?

How portable are they?

What's the difference between the two?

If compared to the holy grail of portable headphone amps such as the RSA SR-71, how do they compare?

Is it really worth the price of $170 and $305 respectively?

Is it worth the upgrade from the FiiO E11?

And could they efficiently drive my Beyers DT-880 Pro (250 Ohm) and the HifiMan HE-500?

I'm also open to other suggestions but only from the Indonesian Jaben catalogue.

Thanks and sorry for so many technical questions.

Heya, the Petite and Magnum are fairly old models in the GoVibe family. Can you give a link to the Jaben Indonesia page? I'll have a look for you; since I have the 880 Premium, I might also be able to recommend some amps.

Well, the only link that shows what products they have is only this one and it's not even the region that my relative is from so I hope they have what I'm looking for at the Jaben store in Jakarta.

Here's their page for the Jaben Surabaya store:

And here's their Jakarta store which apparently is not working well.

Ah I see. Yeah the DAC/Amp section isn't very big, and I guess you'd be limited to the Magnum at most...

So you're looking for a USB DAC/Amp to use with your laptop? Does it have to be portable? Because you could get an E7+E9 combi.

Also, it depends what headphone you're using it with. The Shure 425 that you have is probably quite efficient, and so if you get an amp for that it's probably more for colouration than for power. The 880, on the other hand, might benefit from a more powerful amp than the E11.

I owned Petite and still have around Magnum with DAC option. Both are not bright sounding, I would call them more on the warm side, they go very well with Grado's. Magnum would offer more options, such as extra bass boots ( nothing that I really use ), 3 imp settings L/M/H and DAC. Both units are really portable and I use my Magnum as my desktop now with Hippo VB, not the best out there, but fits the need so far.

When I tried the GoVibe amps, I found that the Sharps sounded almost identical to my ears than the SR71A, which I auditioned side by side.

They look exactly the same as well, the difference being color.

Thanks for the input guys but after some really hard thinking, I might add the Fostex HP-P1 in the list too. I know it's twice the price but the advantage is that it completely bypasses the internal DAC in my iPod Classic and if I rockbox my iPod, I might be able to listen to some of my 24/96kHz flacs which the iPod can't. Is the DAC from the HP-P1 support 24/96kHz files? Or should I just get a CLAS with a GoVibe amp? Which is much more expensive and much more bulkier.

BTW, I don't care much now if the amps can't connect to my laptop. I won't be listening to music out of them anyway but maybe for watching videos.

If you want best GoVibe amp I can recommend fully VestAMP+ that has DAC or VestAMP which it has no DAC. They are both best seller with lot of fans and purchasers here in Japan. Very low noise and very good wide soundstage and good price.

Thanks but I already have my Fostex HP-P1 which is a portable DAC/Amp specially designed for the iPod. So the need for another amp is not needed.
